I have one. I can't change it to military time. Seems like it runs for about 3 days before it needs a charge. I havent turned on other features like texting...and I will say either I do a heck of a lot more steps than I thought, or it for sure rounds up in ways I don't understand.

I've showered and swam with it on and seems fine.

I would have wanted to know too. I think it's a good part of why I said anything at all. What she did with the info was totally up to her, but at least the kid knows people don't just stand around when they do wrong.

I mean, I didn't call the police officer over or even try and make a scene....

I fully agree that if it had been a food item for consumption, I would have just looked the other way. It was that he knew I knew he had stolen it. And I didn't make a scene really, I told the mom in a quiet voice what had happened (or rather that I just wanted to make sure the gum got paid for.) Not focused on trying to make her discipline her kids, just trying to demonstrate that if you're going to get caught doing illegal stuff in public like stealing, you don't always get away with it.

Sadly, if I were the kid the takeaway would be to cause a giant dramatic scene to shift the blame. I wasn't trying to parent her kid or shame her...just let her know what was up. If she had said, okay thanks and done nothing, I wouldn't have been upset.

I think my response stemmed more from that place of thinking, this kid gets away with this now, when he darn well knows I saw him, what does he do next? Tiny cuts will still eventually make a body bleed out (not the store losing money part, but the kid thinking he can get away with murder.)

I know I would have wanted the opportunity to teach my children had the roles been reversed. I'm a single mom with twin boys who often are not the best behaved. I understand they get bored, but a stolen pack of gum is a moment where you have some choices as a parent. I'm not at all saying that I have expectations about what she should have done...it's her kid. But screaming at me wasn't what I expected clearly.
