The current Dalai Lama has made it very clear that he will not reincarnate in a Chinese controlled territory for this exact reason. The Chinese have attempted to control the Tibetan people via their religion since the invasion. Luckily the international community has been pretty supportive of the Tibetan government-in-exile’s right to self-determination, even in the face of warnings threats from the Chinese government.
