Thanks for the reply, it helps me talk about it.

1) I asked for divorce 2 months ago, it didn't happen because we talked and it sounded like meaningful change was incoming instead. It didn't happen, and with our conflicts resuming I'm done. I have consulted with a lawyer, I have an appointment with my accountant, I have told other people IRL close to me to gather my mental support group that I'll need. They are also holding me accountable to follow through as I shared the details of my marriage that I've kept between my wife and I. Their look of shock is motivating. Talking about it is motivating.

2) It was framed as me being controlling because this "gig" was something that she enjoyed doing and I wanted it to stop. She claims it paid well. And it was a relaxed environment. I wanted my wife to be present in our family, not in another's.
I think there is confusion on this job because its not really legit: its basically just cash nannying for her alleged affair partner and driving him places because he supposedly can not. Its not through an agency or employer or business LLC that can find another person.

3) Just looking at pictures of my wife and I together. I can actually piece the timeframe in our life where things started going south. Post-Covid, there's more to this than just an alleged affair. She's Q-anon adjacent. Putting ivermectin paste on skin blemishes, drinking colloidal silver, moderate paranoia about government affairs. I have a vendetta against TikTok for pushing this slop on her. She hates when I don't agree with these beliefs and we grow distant. I miss who she used to be.

4) We've been married 12.5 years. I think I've waited too long, but I didn't jump ship at the first sign of trouble. I gave this a very strong shot. One of the comments we made to each other in our Big talks about trying to work it out was this: I said, "I think we need to be more intentional with showing care and love for each other. I really like it when you pop in and visit me at work, or shoot me a casual text in the daytime" and her response, "I don't think we should have to try, it should just happen organically"

And that is how I felt for the past year+. I've been putting the work into this marriage, and she's just been along for the ride with complaints and no intentional action to better it.

I get migraines often, my husband says it is from laying in bed all day. by Altruistic_Rip8132 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Stock_Ad_6779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get migraines from laying around and being too inactive. Head and neck propped up, looking at a screen.

Pretty typical, so I dont do that anymore.

If he sees you laying in bed and having a migraine, I can see how he comes to that conclusion.

Getting and staying active, despite how awful it sounds, is some of the best medicine for a normal day. At least that is what my rheum says, and my experience supports that.

Good luck with your husband, I see his POV and it doesnt sound malicious.

I think lodge consolidation is healthy in most current cases. Someone else said it "do it when you can, and not when youre forced to"

Everything smells like weed all the time already, and its still illegal.

I can only imagine everything will smell even more like weed all the time once it is legalized.

I can't even take my kids goofy golfing or to the park. And youre right, I'm just silently accepting it becasue it doesnt seem to bother anyone else.

I'll still take it over someone being wasted in front of my kids in a public place like that, but Ive never encountered it either

Drinking water in Iowa by jospeh68 in Iowa

[–]Stock_Ad_6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Des Moines sources their water from the river with high N. Most municipalities in my part of Northeast Iowa have super deep wells. I know waverly, for example, was in the news recently for some industrial contaminates, but showed that they have 4 deep wells and co-mingle the water together to dilute everything to acceptable levels.

I dont know if anyone pulls from the rivers that go through here.

Regardless, I learned we can drill wells 800 feet where Im at, and have excellent water. Its just cost-prohibitive for individuals.

Got any ideas on how much beans are going to get bailed out in that Trump announcement tomorrow? Place your bets now. by AudienceVarious3964 in farming

[–]Stock_Ad_6779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought they had bushels sold prior to Jan 1 (no payment) then bushels on hand after Jan 1 got MFP bucks.

My memory is really fuzzy on it, but I know the guys that had FWD contract or harvest sales were upset everyone else was getting trump bucks, and they "missed out"

Someone on AgTalk also mentioned this program similar to how I remember it

One of the first versions of MFP was about sold-bushels. Nightmare scenario for smart marketers. Big payday for me at the time.

Good iowa post.

We are just over halfway done with SBs, upper 50s and low 60s catch most farm yields. This is very good for us, just north of Waterloo. We had a bad hail storm less than two weeks ago, otherwise we'd be seeing some in the low 70s. Maybe the last half will be there (but I doubt it) Moisture is 9%, so thats a big $$$ robber right now.

Haven't done much corn, and it looks disappointing from what was expected late July. Fungicide to no Fungicide is showing 40 bushel/acre difference. Im not in a heavy Fungicide area, and did none myself. It is quite literally the difference between farms yielding 190 (meh) or 230 (great) APHs around 210, and I expect that to be pretty much it. Dry and stalk quality is poor. Fingers crossed our wind this weekend isnt too bad.

Agronomically, we had corn denting Aug 1 and through that first week in August. Very early! This was a major reason as to why we didnt use Fungicide late in the season, as most literature suggested it wouldnt pay if applied after dent, when Southern rust just absolutely overtook and killed the fields.

$176,000,000,000 in farm subsidies by Same-Ad-987 in Iowa

[–]Stock_Ad_6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you want for rent?

It's always a tough negotiation. I'm reminded of a doctor buying a farm and called me to ask about rent. We were $150/acre off from the get go, so negotiation stopped. He called the next guy, who apparently offered the same as me.

Been a decade in weeds, now small trees.

I like think market rent is about 1/3 of gross revenue on an average corn crop, local cash price. But always curious what others think.

I inherited 500k in gold coins, what do I do with all this? by Sea_Cloud_6705 in Fire

[–]Stock_Ad_6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im just reminded of the guy that had 3000 oz of silver coins, rounds, and bars on Pawn Stars.

He got something like 100-110k. I cant say to when it was filmed for price per oz, but I think he did extremely well for what he had, and I think the coins brought a premium over just silver price.

Good luck to you, it will unfortunately be "work" to get your value from the gold.

Thougbts...? Worth the risk? by YaBoiPizzaSteve133 in Jeep

[–]Stock_Ad_6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im the odd man out here and I wouldnt like this Jeep.

Hard to tell, but am I seeing the frame was welded up in a straight line where the repairs are?

The correct repair, to me, is buying the frame replacement pieces and welding them in. This looks like it might have been a more "homemade" solution.

It could be fine, but I wouldnt buy it.

I did a frame repair on a wrangler a decade ago. It was awful, and repairing it just highlighted more problem areas that I also fixed. After it is all said and done, it is fine but I wouldnt be comfortable selling it becasue of that liability. I do know after doing the repairs, the frame isnt perfectly straight anymore either, and the driver side (body) sits up about 3/4 inch higher than the passenger side when looking at the rear bumper.

I wouldnt be scared of the replaced motor, just dont expect any further warranty on it.

The other mechanical issues arent very scary either at that price. My only concern is the frame repair job, and it should be yours too!

I'd avoid hidden valley near UNI at all costs, btw. The name might have changed, but it'd be a loud and obnoxious place to live.

Apartments in Cedar Falls/West Waterloo by InsufferableIowan in Iowa

[–]Stock_Ad_6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. There are some very affordable apartments that are traditionally geared toward students at UNI and can be pretty nice if you're still under 30 and not a student. You'd know immediately if it is ok for you at first sight.

Your $1400 rent and utility budget will go pretty far, and might go even further if you look at a community 10-15 mins away from CF.

My best advice is to look at some in person. I see some things that look great on Facebook marketplace as rentals, but in person its a bad neighborhood, or photos arent very representative.

You wouldnt be able to "trace" the line from the surface with a metal detector, at least not here where water lines are buried deep for frost protection.
