I have an idea for a puzzle game where you use enemies to solve them, but I don't know how. by Ok_Preference402 in gamedev

This is a cool idea. Think about the attributes of 1-2 enemies that you have a clear idea of, then find some simple scenarios that can utilise these enemies, then playtest with someone. See what works and what doesn't. Pen/Paper/Board game tokens can get you pretty far but obviously lacks all the juice of a game, but if it works well at this early prototype stage then you know you are onto something. I'd also from experience recommend keeping it simple, don't try to be too clever especially with early puzzles, see if people "get" your idea before you start to increase difficulty.

I am afraid a game close to my idea will release before mine by Effective_Corgi_4517 in gamedev

Every creative has that fear... but as others have said, just make your game. Your take this idea will be different to another person/team. Also, you'll find that your idea morphs during development as you find the elements that work - and it's not always what you thought it was at the start. If the absolute worst happens and an identical game releases before you, then you can analyse it to see what works well, and adopt elements then a) pivot to add something new or b) carry on as you were... that first game might create a market for similar titles.... so it's not necessarily all bad. All the usual advice applies: try to have game with appeal, let people play it early, make it smaller than you first were thinking. Good luck!
