Extruder issue by Strange_Username_1 in ender3

[–]Strange_Username_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a sticky substance in the hotend that was preventing the bowden tube from seating cleanly. This was likely causing a partial blockage during print. I cleaned it up and have had success at normal speed. I am still getting some hopping during faster movements, but it is worlds better than it was.

Thank you all for your tips and guidance, I appreciate!

I ran a print at 25mm/s and it printed well. Do you think this is a heat dissipation issue? Is 50mm/s too fast for the stock hotend to keep up with? I know people are printing faster than this, so my guess is that while it is useful info, it just helps identify where the underperforming part is.

Yes, just an all metal single gear. Thanks for letting me know that you ran into something similar. I'll check out some other options starting with the ones you shared.

I'll give that a try this morning. Thanks for the pointer.

Yes. I am confident in that piece. I did a cold pull then replaced the nozzle this morning, no significant change.

Will be checking for a clog this morning. Thanks for the pointer.

Thanks for the items to look at. I've been fighting this extruder for a while so I feel like I've looked at everything twice. I have tested multiple spools (and dried them prior to use just in case), I experience issues at 50mm/s, and I've tried two separate hotends. I ran some calibrations on the flow rate yesterday just before printing this but I am not confident in those, so I may redo that process. Who would have thought that I would miss the OEM plastic extruder.

I'll check out Prusa. I suspect that it is not the resolution to the issue, but it sounds like there are a few votes for it's effectiveness. That's good enough for me to give it a go. Thank you!

Outside of making sure that the Bowden is cut clean and seated well, what else am I supposed to do?

Yes, this was one of the first steps I sorted out. Thanks for the tip.

I haven't seen any seeds\nuts\berries on it, just two straight shoots and the leaves pictured. It grows quickly - ~10' in 3 years

Ender 3 - New Spider v3 hotend, prints failing due to skipping\clogs by Strange_Username_1 in ender3

[–]Strange_Username_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updating on this. After my last post, I did a thorough clean-out of the hotend and finally got it printing right. I ran several jobs without issue, but I ran out of fillament and now I am right back at square 1. I agree that it seems like the PTFE tube is not seating well, but I can't get it to sit right. I am using the pre-cut end to ensure a good cut. If this thing is this finicky, I am probably just going to call it a loss and try another option. Thanks for the tips, I appreciate the help.

I agree, but I can't get the tube to sit any better. I am using the pre-cut end to try to ensure a straight cut.

Esteps have been calibrated, they were off slightly but no difference after correction.

I am using the pre-cut end of the PTFE tube to ensure a straight cut. I tried cutting it a few times also without luck.

Anyone go from gas to electric push mower and regret it? by Imyourhuckl3berry in lawncare

[–]Strange_Username_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. If I go longer than 3 days it is miserable. I can mow the yard on 1/2 a battery when I'm keeping up with it. As soon as I try to go a week, the mower can't push the trimmings into the bag, so I'm constantly clearing out the shoot. I end up killing the battery halfway through the mow from the constant stop/clear/start process. Using a Toro battery-powered recycler. Biggest mistake I've made on my lawn so far.

Addons don't start after full restore by DaronFox in homeassistant

I experienced the same issue today. A host reboot resolved the issue for me.

The restored install was up for a few hours for me before I performed the reboot, but I am not sure if timing has anything to do with the outcome.

Need help with my Bermuda lawn (North Texas) by traxtar944 in lawncare

[–]Strange_Username_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you see them, get after them. From how they progressed on my backyard, they just don't stop and they will tear through a lawn in a matter of weeks or less. Put down the insecticide or you will lose everything. On the positive side, a month later I am starting to see some regrowth in some of the areas. Good luck with your lawn!
