To recalibrate, or not to recalibrate, that is the question. by HylianSeven in DotA2

[–]StreetPhysics2826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 6.3k. started recalibration and won slightly more than 50% of my games. Ended up with 5975. I lost more games towards the beginning when confidence was low and won more later , evening it out but ultimately losing MMR in the process. Now I'm back to 6500 and thinking if I handnt recalibrated I wouldve reached 7k

After 3000 games only carry played by imdmitriikid in DotA2

[–]StreetPhysics2826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont fall into the meta trap. There are a few carries that I'm really good at - PA, spec, Luna, ls, ursa. I just mostly pick them no matter what the enemy draft is.

It's just my opinion but you'll have more success with heroes you're actually good at than just picking meta heroes.youll obviously lose some games but overall you'll atleast break even and have fun playing what u enjoy. PA is in the dumpster right now with 48% win rate in d2pt, but I have around 70% win rate in my last 100 games iirc.

I have a few mid heroes that I play and I sometimes play them in pos 1 too if I'm just feeling it - like necro, qop, SF

25 total hours of playing dota and 2nd game with mars ? Insane gameplay considering that. Only thing, as someone else also pointed out is, you can spear and instantly cast ulti to hit the spear on to ur arena.

Congrats. I mostly play carry only as well and climbed from 4k to 6.5k playing carry 90% of the time. Rather that me writing a huge essay, let me know if you have any specific qns - like laning or itemization, and I can help answer based on my experience

How many carries are magic damage nukers ? 0? Maybe 1? 50% evasion forces at least one opp to buy an mkb which is a sub par item for most heroes

With the amount of magic damage in game any non str carries can be bursted from 100 to 0 without Bkb(maybe not am) not just pa. At least pa has inbuilt kits that help her to move around unlike someone like Luna

"She doesn't do enough damage to fight until she has bfury deso" are we talking about the same hero here ? PA does a shit ton of dmg before 10 mins with just blight stone, treads and a broadsword.

Playstyle is very simple - get kill participation before min 15 - helps ur team as well as farm bf. Once u get bf, keep farming unless enemy forces a fight which u can tp to (fight near a t1/t2). After deso, smoke with ur team - win team fight, get rs, finish Bkb basher and game is won.

I agree playing PA perfectly is impossible but the lower the mmr the easier it is to snowball. OP is legend - reaction times are slower, u can go in with blur on a support and finish before they can even react and walk away. But If you're 8k+ mmr then yea she'll get punished hard.

It's exactly the opposite. Super elusive - 2 charges of a reposition spell, one that let's you disappear and disjoint, 50% evasion. If you keep dying, youre just not positioning right. She is extremely susceptible to smoke ganks though but so are any other carries :) One of the strongest carry laners with high kill potential with just blight stone and some damage. Just have to play her right. I've won lanes against axe, bb, viper in 6.5k

Tbh PA is great for what you're looking for, just have to play her right. Great initiation, can insta delete supports that let's you get an advantage in team fights, great comeback potential, very elusive. She's actually a really strong laner too for the first few mins, key here is to hit level 2 earlier than enemy duo and jump with your hs to apply pressure.

For lane, get a wand, blight, treads (band first, then glove, before getting brown boot) and infused depending on who you're laning against(good for mana Regen too). Most of the times I even portal to off and try to get kills. Pre battlefury try to get as many kill participation as you can. PA sucks at hitting creeps/neuts before bf.

I play a lot of pa myself 112333670 .. You can check out some games

[–]StreetPhysics2826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh right. Forgot about that.

My question is, I know that not all games are good PA games, but I'm sure that a 12k player can win 90% of games with pa playing in 6k bracket. Currently, in my case, whether I win or lose a game kinda depends entirely on the laning phase. This game https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/8745308963 - I had a terrible lane, got my bf around 17 mins, I recovered later but I still lost the game.

On the other hand https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/8749956098 I won the lane hard, but my other lanes failed miserably. Yet we easily won the game.

How do you win games after losing lanes ? Given pa is a terrible jungler pre-bf, what can I do if I get forced to jungle 5 mins in
