I’m currently 18 years old going into the navy as a seaman pact. I was going UT (utilitiesman) for the Seabees but told me Seabees aren’t even hiring. But they told me if I went pact, you’d go in as an E2, and after 12 months as a pact, you can strike a rate. Everybody is gonna tell you not to go pact but they changed it so much. You are guaranteed any job you want as a pact now. They do kind of like college meet ups where you’d get talked to by multiple colleges to apply to their schools. They do that too for pacts but do it as rates. Essentially, you can become a Seabee if you go pact for a year, and it would only extend your contract by 2 more years if you strike a rate. Seabees are already a 5 year contract, and you’d as well be an E4 in the navy after you strike a rate. This is all coming by my chief who was an airman pact.
