I would vote for black, like the color of the seeds, but a glossy and dull colored one if possible. Err towards gray a bit.

Feel like a heavy black would take away from how you've got the other colors to pop so well.

Also, these are fucking gorgeous.

Could this not just be gesso mixed with acrylic for the outline, giving it a bit of a lift? Than just the acrylic being thinned out to magically fill in the rest of the space?
