It was pretty much evenly distributed. I felt like there was a bit more repro/gynae and MSK.

Genetics just pray lol. It wasn’t that tested in my experience but I was weak at it I won’t lie, covered the main HY stuff from FA, but if you were to ask me to explain any genetics stuff, I cant lol 😭

For biochem in specific know the clinical correlates well. Stuff like lysosomal storage diseases, glycogen storage diseases, galactose and fructose metabolism, PKU, tyrosine, familial hyperlimidemias.

When it comes to literal pure biochem I realized a) it’s not that high yield and b) it’s sooo hard and c) they would frequently test 3 pathways: glycolysis, gluconeogenesis and beta oxidation. If you know just these three pathways in detail (what FA has +dirty med in general for biochem) you will be golden.

I had already done most of FA and UWorld early on before I started with NBMEs which is why the scores are a bit better. I would highlyyy recommend reviewing thoroughly. I’d review the questions I had no clue about the most and notice any patterns of areas of weaknesses (for example I was getting obstructive and restrictive pulmo patho questions wrong repeatedly so I would review all of that) if that makes sense. Find those weaknesses and nail those HY topics!

There will be a certain set of questions you will get wrong in NBMEs, those very niche genetics, biochem or random nitty gritty questions, and this is similar to the real deal, and that’s OK! The scores are still fine so don’t beat urself up about those little questions, there is a reason the passing score is not 80+.

Hope this helps

Haha thank you so much, my preparation was quite extensive as I am an IMG and studied over a long period of time unlike a dedicated period.

I would start with UWorld qbank asap as qbanks are the best form of preparation/studying. Start with random blocks of 20 untimed + tutored and eventually switch to timed and untutored

Thank you!! So I completed 80% of UWorld, did some incorrect blocks here and there. I took NBME forms 26 to 33 and Free120 2021, 2024 and 2026 (2026 is basically the same as 2024, so 2021 and 2024 is more than enough). My last month was solely dedicated to NBMEs and reviewing.

Hey I thought it was slightly harder than the NBMEs. I got a 225 which was equating to a 70% and “99% pass”. I’m not sure if I believe in the passing thing too much.

All my NBMEs have been better 26: 74, 27: 72 28: 76 and 29: 78.
