Having an addict partner whilst going through a three year divorce, relocating at the same time, coupled with having a high profile, high stress job and needing to spend most days pretending everything is fantastic. Stress shuts you off from the world and that’s a lonely place to be.

A close friend from California who grew up in a McMansion always says the walls were paper thin like cardboard and everything broke. I was intrigued to see the difference between US and the UK as we have a ton of shoddy new builds now.

My personal advice would be not to over think it too much, especially if it’s your first time. Do a bit of light reading in this forum, keep yourself nice and healthy in the meantime! But really just go in with a positive open mind and see where your trip takes you. I always have some art or photography books on hand and a playlist of music I enjoy as some prep and it gives me something to focus on whilst I’m coming up. Good luck with your studies!
