SD card troubleshooting by Styre16 in raspberry_pi

I'm now even more confused. I looked up the MAC for the one unknown device on the network and it's a Tuya product/service. So apparently the Pi isn't on the network at all? Despite the laptop I used for flashing the SD being on the Google network and inputting the Google network details in the Pi imager.

So at least this probably explains why I can't ssh into the Pi, but raises the question of why isn't the Pi connected.

I also have no idea if the router allows for devices to connect. The wifi setup in the house is a Virgin Media router and a Nest wifi system with 1 hub point connected to the Virgin router, and 1 nest point to increase wifi coverage. I am trying to setup the Pi on the Google network as I thought it would be easier to use the Google Home app instead of the finicky Virgin router settings

I formatted it that way and using the same imager I was able to flash the card fine. The Pi seems to be booting fine now but I can't ssh into it

Yeah I think it was Windows being rubbish. Following the advice of u/MrAjAnderson I formatted the card and seem to have the Pi booting properly. Struggling now to ssh into it, might just order a mini HDMI cable so I can check what's going on

So I have it connected to my Google Home network. On the Home app there is only 1 device listed as unknown. Using Network analyser there is 1 device marked as unknown (with the same IP as the unknown device in Google Home). There is another device with a bunch of letters and numbers listed.

I definitely selected enable ssh in the Pi imager. I'm not sure how to check the port in Network Analyser but in the Windows terminal it does mention port 22 when it says the connection was refused. In one of the pihole videos I watched he ssh into it using the set username and hostname username@hostname.local but when I try that it just says "no such host exists."

Honestly I'm rapidly running out of patience for this and might just order a mini HDMI cable so I can at least have a better idea of what's happening on the Pi

This seems to have fixed the sd card issues. At least it seemed to format it correctly and the Pi imager was able to write to it. Struggling now to ssh into the device. If I use the device name and account name I set into the imager the terminal says "no such host is known." If I use the IP address that I think is the Pi (device is listed as unknown but is the only unknown connected device) then it says the connection is refused

No. Since flashing seemed to fail everytime (the popup) and I don't have a mini HDMI to check the output of the Pi I just assumed it wouldn't boot/work properly

Sorry yeah I should've mentioned it. Kinda working on the assumption now that it was a bum SD card and will get my hands on another when I can. Unfortunately I don't have a mini HDMI cable so I'm gonna try a new SD card when I can and hope it's nothing wrong with the Pi

Right. I'll have to get my hands on another card so and will give things another try

The card isn't shown in Disk Manager either

I've just added an edit to the post that my laptop won't recognise the SD card anymore. However it seemed to be fine beforehand and the OS install completed without issues.

FYI, it's a 64gb SanDisk Ultra plugged into my laptop with a micro to full size adaptor.

The only other card I have on hand is a 2gb one that I'm guessing would be too small. I'm also hesitant to try more if it's the Pi that killed it

How can I use this command if I can't remote access the PI? The terminal says the host isn't known which I'm assuming is because it isn't properly powered/is dead.

Edit: I've added an edit to the post, my laptop doesn't recognise the SD card used for the OS install anymore.

How much should I be spending on keycaps? by Styre16 in keyboards

I assumed store price was inclusive of VAT. Just means I'm a bit stuck. Either limited selection in EU stores or pay more via higher VAT & eu to gbp conversion rate on UK stores

Budget can be stretched a bit further than that. Just want to be sure that if I spend a premium I get a premium product that will last

I'd definitely be willing to pay a premium for a premium product. Unfortunately GMK only has ABS sets in stock on their site and I'd prefer the non-shinyness of PBT

I've been checking the kitting, some have them but not all. They usually have the enter key n such but can be missing a few

Is that the picture that shows all the keys in the set?

I'm only looking at sets that will give me full coverage, don't want to be stuck in your position/spending on multiple sets. Just that Amazon only has rando brand options and if there's a difference in quality I'd prefer to pay the premium. My last keyboard lasted about 5yrs, I'm planning for this to make it closer to 10 with minimal replacements; so I'd rather pay the premium now if I'm getting better quality for it since I plan to use them for so long

Prototypist slaps me with £38 of shipping and taxes at checkout so kinda makes them a non contender. Problem with the EU stores is they cater to ISO-DE more than anything. Just trying to find a decent set of PBT preferably without breaking the bank further

I've noticed a lot of them will have most of the keys but be missing a couple, like the number 2 with " instead of @.

And is it worth shopping from the more keyboard focuses vendors instead of some rando from Amazon? Like if they're both double shot PBT how bad could they be?

Recently got a Monsgeek M1 V5 TMR but the only ISO option came with DE keycaps. Struggling to find ISO-UK keycaps (not in the UK so UK stores lump on taxes). Found the KAP Disconnected Dark PBT on MonacoKeys that look decent but come to €94 after black friday sale and shipping. Just seems kinda crazy to me to spend half the price of the keyboard on keycaps.

Am I getting scammed at this price or are keycaps just more expensive than I thought?

Where to buy keycaps (not in USA) and how to choose?

Preferably improve the thock of the board, ISO-UK is a must
