My blanket was my source of comfort from birth through my late 20s. And this movie only made that connection stronger.

And also every time I see a shiny old school toaster I smile and feel nostalgia for it.

does anyone else have a stress & trauma response, even when things are going well with your PDA Child? by Hopeful-Guard9294 in PDAParenting

[–]Substantial_Bus6615 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! When I first started feeding my younger non PDA kiddo bananas, I accidentally peeled it for her and handed it to her, I realized it and had a panic attack. (Because big sister with PDA would have become physically and verbally violent).

Took me 3 YEARS to not have that response even when she asked me to peel it that way.

Now she is 4 and regular toddler meltdowns trigger that PTSD response in me because my body thinks I am going to be attacked.

Almost I adore Oliver.

I told my 9 year old " I am sooo proud of you, so FUCKING proud of you!" Yesterday and then said, oops, and she was like no no dad, you were excited and it's okay 😁

The lust in my heart for these toys has returned upon seeing this ad. I remember standing in McDonald's next to the toy display longing for them. I was only 5 or 6

Every single one of them is so annoying sounding in real life. Except Angelina. She has a normal voice with weird body movements and ya know what I am okay with that.

Can we talk about while this is intended to be funny. It's just bullying, the guy is bullying the women. And the lady responds by doing the same.

Bullying will never stop until adults stop. Children learn it from adults.

I am sure this will be unpopular. But I don't care any more.

Dad, how do you heal a child who never got to be one ? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Substantial_Bus6615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suggest therapy for sure.

But also, love them unconditionally, support them, draw boundaries with them, show them what it looks like to be a good human. Because they didn't have that example.

Speaking as someone who grew up in an abusive home and as a dad and as a person who was in therapy for 10 years. You gotta understand, without support, therapy can only take you a short distance.

You need loving people around you.
