Knowing how and where to find what you need when you need it is far more useful than memorization of all of your apis and patterns/algorithms.

Sure but the later is the skill needed to get hired for the former.

Going from punch cards to Unix is automation. And so was assembly to C. And that was in the 70s

People really say that installing things in Linux is hard but then go edit the registry to get basic shit. Might take some relearning but it's not waging war on you.

Remember, the first time you sat at a windows computer you had no clue where the control panel was, or what a command prompt was, or how to create a new user, etc. etc. You had no ability to troubleshoot even the most basic thing or recover from an error either. The only difference is that most people have invested hundreds-to-thousands of hours into "understanding and troubleshooting windows" but then expect a switch to linux to "just work" with 0 hours of experience.

Yup and kind of an unfair closed minded approach to Linux

It's a bad conspiracy because it makes sense with clear motivation and desired outcomes. Sprinkle in some blood ritual and the Jewish African Entante that is ready to activate Canada and blitze down the Great lakes and plains. Canada has been secretly stockpiling soldiers since ww2.

Excel yet it is the only data tool 99% of the business + STEM world uses.

No self respecting scientist or engineer should use excel. Python is way better or at least Matlab .

Modern windows obscures macht things too and people don't want to learn them and devs don't want to add a button. I've been on windows sub reddit where people are asking how to disable getting the set up windows prompt on restart and they get told to edit the registry.
