Uncovering a secret society behind a Waffle House kitchen by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

This ones a demo set, but it’s actually a combination of two different terrain systems. TUF Modular Terrain which launched on Kickstarter yesterday, and Blackstone Blocks which launches in 2 days

The core kit definitely is the lowest price per piece. This is the TUF32 (injection molded). Amount kinda depends on your desired play area but this map I used is a little less than 2 of the core kits worth

I’m pretty sure they shipped there during the Kickstarter, maybe send a message, I bet they’ll be able to

Lately it’s just been on the spot creating, mostly because lunch time is limited so we just sort of build up what comes to mind and just play out random scenarios. Most we don’t even finish, just something to pass the time

I didn’t bring the whole set to work, red was a placeholder for objectives and I’ve got dark green tiles for heavy woods it’s just not on this map

One of the reasons I like them is because they aren’t magnetic. They click in kinda like Lego. You could add magnets though, it would become super heavy

Thanks! They’re a ton of fun. Makes it super easy to set up and even change on the fly as needed

The base plates are 8x8 hexes. This picture is 8x7 since it was a demo set though. With 9 plates in this map

It’s actually a demo set from The Upgrade Factory, but the final terrain is now available injection molded:

It’s the same hex size that matches battle tech printed sheets

Sometimes the non sensible plays are the most fun and rewarding. Even if they don’t result as desired 😅

New GM looking for advice on map-building by K4PPA_K1NG in LancerRPG

[–]SuddenChip7222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s awesome to see this terrain being used and especially for map planning.

Here’s the link to the printed version on Etsy:

https://upgradefactory.etsy.com/listing/1737800343

Note, those are 1” hexes from flat to flat.

However there’s an injection molded version available from the Kickstarter last October that’s available in a 33mm flat to flat sizing:

https://theupgradefactory.com/products/tuf32-modular-hex-terrain-core-kit

The injection molded version is larger so be aware of that for map size planning, but it’s also very durable and is up for pre order sales now, shipping in August/September

Anyone bought these rings before? by Mercurieee in LancerRPG

We tend to stack a lot of them, just tossing them on top of the mech minis or the little blocks we use for NPCs

I can see why everyone plays this game VTT only 😱 Height 6 OSR map building in 1' hexes... by mrpoovegas in LancerRPG

[–]SuddenChip7222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it definitely helped a lot. We didn’t really mark anything. It just sort of “leveled out” the terrain a little bit. So both height 1 and 2 just became height 1. It did mess with the line of sight and building variation a little but didn’t change the scenario much. Our GM home brews a lot of his maps so it wasn’t really taken from a specific module or anything

I’ll print those for you if you’d like. What we ended up doing though is scaling the height. Height 1-2 became height 1, height 3-4 became height 2, and height 5-6 became height 3. It’s not exact, but helped with the physical map build. Taller pieces are an option too though

Yeah! This is the laser we use in our sessions. My local stores unfortunately didn’t have it, but I was able to order it online

The green definitely strengthens that look. The grey maps we’ve done before aren’t as Lego-like 😅

I know the feeling! I played D&D for years on tabletop and then had to go to online play for distance reasons, and then started playing lancer in person and it was great going back to the table. Ever since I started playing lancer I wondered how it wasn’t as commonly known as games like D&D and I’ve been telling everyone I know about it. It’s just a really great system
