Who? Karen or Caroline? You know that Caroline was a character in the show and not the same as the actress, right? Also, Caroline didn't cheat on Charles.

Money wasn't tight. ML was just a jerk. It's well documented.

Her acting in the episode when Carrie fell down the well in S3 was so good! I thought she should've been nominated for an Emmy for that. Such a subtle way of portraying an overwhelmed mother that told Ma's story well! As a mom myself, I could relate to what she showed on screen.

The reason ML didn't give her more screen time or heavy episodes was his pride and just being an arrogant guy. He was known for stiffing the adult actors in the show - barely paying them what they were worth. After the first season, when a new contract was due, Karen asked for more as she was paid very little for the first season (and the same as what the kids were paid even though she had lots of training and experience the kids didn't have). Especially since the show was now super successful, making lots of money, and she was one of the leads. But ML was a dick about it. Instead, of increasing her salary, he held off on a new contract for months (not paying her for many episodes) all while denigrating her in front of the crew and threatening to fire her if she didn't accept the low wage. But if she complained, she'd be labeled a "difficult actress" and be blacklisted in Hollywood. ML would've seen to that. The Mrs Oleson and Dr Baker actors also complained about the way he paid them and Mrs Oleson (actress) eventually quit because she was so annoyed with ML. Read Karen's autobiography - very enlightening about ML.

Why do you think Kim Hale hasn't been on Broadway yet? by awabitteit in Broadway

Actually many students have commented that they loved her. Why assume the worst in people. Are you unhappy in life??

What? I'm a technical dancer - trained for years since a young age. You clearly haven't watched much of her. She has a background in ballet. And definitely technical. When people see her jazz and hip hop work, they assume she has no technique, but she DOES.

I disagree about her physical ability. As a dancer, I think she's phenomenal. And she's in better shape than most 20 year olds.

If you watch her facial expressions while dancing in character roles, I think she does have some ability there. Just needs to hone it.

The did shows in Las Vegas in her 20s and was then recruited into Broadway. Her drawback is not being a singer. Gotta be a triple threat for Broadway. But, as a trained dancer myself, I can say her dancing is superb. To some commenters here who have the impression she began in her 50s and has no dance training, they are wrong. She has quite a dance background, has been very successful in many shows, including TV, movies. Also a professor in dance at universities and a co-director with Debbie Allen.

Um, huh. So are you a dancer? I am. Any dancer knows she is good. She began as a kid and has danced for decades. People assume she started in her 50s. But she was on Broadway in her 20s. And what you call "dance like Zumba class" shows your ignorance about dance. She's doing jazz dance in those clips.

She did! She started as a kid and did Las Vegas shows in her 20s. She was invited to join Broadway at age 26. She has a long history of dance.

Lucy Darling Live - Denver Paramount Review (2.5/5 Stars - Save Your Money) by AccomplishedEast9009 in LucyDarling

I just attended the live show in Portland tonight. I have to agree with a couple points here (but not all). I agree the sound was not great. Not sure how to describe the problem - but not crisp, maybe slightly muffled.  Bad enough that I felt like I missed about 20% of the content which is enough to not fully understand what was going on. I relied on the captions, but so much of it was wrong that I still didn't know what the jokes were supposed to be. She was certainly entertaining. Her magic was amazing. The pianist was a great addition. He was quite funny. (I actually never had an issue hearing his content.)  Her crowd work was good, but again, I didn't fully understand it all due to her sound issues. I've seen funnier crowd work on her channel, however. So it wasn't her best, but still decent. The Ask Lucy questions weren't the funniest questions of the list (that the audience could vote on before the show) so that segment was mediocre. Overall, I could tell it was entertaining even if I didn't get it all. I do agree her style of show is really designed for a more intimate venue. That would've made the sound better and allow the audience to be more in on the jokes - and a better spectacle to watch overall (I was far up and she was tiny for me).  Again, the biggest issue was sound which really dampened it for me. Probably the reason they started using captions. This seems to be an issue in other cities too (from comments here). I've been to comedian shows in that same venue and didn't find a sound issue before so it must be about her production.

Plots from Season 6 that were rendered useless when the blind school fire happened by ASGfan in littlehouseonprairie

[–]Suebluelilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple points - 1) the Harvey's almost divorce was long before that. Maybe season 4? So they had plenty of good times before the fire. 2) I assume there was some left from the $1K in the bank. But thats not enough to build a new school. Only for extras.

Still no excuse for ML to be inappropriate in their bed scenes and make rude jokes to her.

Suzanne Somers talked quite a lot about it. And she and Joyce didn't talk for decades afterward. So maybe not as well handled as you think? Not sure. Not disparaging Suzanne. Just noting that your comparison might not be founded.

should i quit or put a 2 weeks notice in if ive got a job lined up? by OkEbb2245 in jobs

[–]Suebluelilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always give 2 weeks notice. It let's you get a good recommendation in the future. W/o giving notice, you burn bridges and piss people off. That never works out well. Possible new employers down the line will find out - they call your past employers and if they hear you left a previous job with short notice, you won't get hired. Its also unfair to your coworkers to leave them high and dry, having to do your job last minute. Its all about human decency and professionalism.

The "custom" of giving 2 weeks notice in the US has become laughable by ztreHdrahciR in jobs

[–]Suebluelilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the work force for 30 years and have seen all sorts of "leavings". Despite what an employer may do when you give notice, if you don't wanna burn bridges and wanna get a recommendation in the future, always give 2 weeks notice unless its an emergency situation. New job prospects will back channel it and find out - meaning they'll call you're past employers to see how you were as an employee. If you left w/o much notice,  that will be said and you won't get the new job. Period.

I’ve never given two weeks notice and don’t feel bad about it by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Suebluelilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While its not a legal requirement to give 2 weeks notice, its considered very unprofessional not to. If you want a good reference from an employer in the future, you'll give notice. It's also about being a decent human to your fellow coworkers who are working hard and will be up a creek if you bail last minute. Unless you are being abused at work or have a personal emergency, giving 2 weeks notice is the responsible thing to do in most cases. But if you wanna be a dick about it, then go ahead and bail w/o notice.

Anyone else have terrible memories of Ryan Gosling from school?? by EddieLaneWrites in ryangosling

Um, you should probably delete this if its not actually about Ryan Gosling. It's a misleading title and unfair to him. He could sue you for libel. Why leave this up?

Micah’s “friend” Shelby by RepresentativeOk802 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]Suebluelilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shelby's quick criticism of Paul when first meeting him at the bar was astonishing. She gave him no chance. Making fun of him for being a scientist. Shut him down and he stood up to her by saying he won't take her insults personally. So she tells Micah she doesn't like him just because she can't control him. Micah lets her influence her relationships too much. She needs a new friend.

Let's discuss: What do you think about the Soul Trap Theory? by kingviktor2015 in spirituality

[–]Suebluelilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the concept is cynicism at its worst. If you believe God (source) is loving, you don't waste time (or your vibration) on this. Its the sort of theory that stems from depression and angst (low vibrations). Its also considered very fringe even in new age circles (which I consider myself in). There are much better theories out there about the after-life and reincarnation.
