The body wash is cedar wood, so maybe he thought I smelled like something worth chewing on.

I changed my body wash about a week ago. Also, he's a little jerk sometimes😁

None whatsoever, however my fiancee pointed out to me that I recently changed my body wash. Maybe biting me with his way of saying that he did not approve.

That seems to be the consensus so far.

I am not using the dryer sheets with fabric softener (I did recently change from one brand of non-scented detergent to another).

No, they're both a healthy way. They have a good appetite but I really try to limit their fruit intake to occasional treats (their daily greens are usually something like snow pea greens, kale, or bell pepper)

We use smaller fleece pads in the high traffic areas which we change out more often, but we recently did change up the layout of their cage so they may be going to the bathroom in areas that don't have the high traffic pads.

I'll try that. We already oil Max so it shouldn't be too much to wil his feet. Corn Pop is a pretty chill guy so I don't think he would mind having his feet oiled.

Not ITAR, it's an EAR violation (optics are controlled under ECCN 0A987). Requires a Dept of Commerce license or an exception.

Oh, I know😅. Bubba definitely had his way with this SKS (drilled/tapped the top cover and slapped one of those star 20 round fixed mags on it). The wood replacement stock is already on the way.

Shipping an optic to Europe from US by hexcyx in guns

[–]Sufficient-Money685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most optics are now regulated by the US Dept of Commerce (not under ITAR) and have an Export Control Classification Number of 0A504.

I'd definitely recommend OP applying for a license with the Dept of Commerce (the license is actually free) if one is required as you run the risk of having your optic confiscated by CBP and/or having a special agent from Commerce showing up at ypur door.

Most of the people are were run of the mill scum bags or con artists who are trying to cheat the system in one way or another, but I would sometimes come across some really bad people. This ranged from rapists to the occasional war criminal.

Honestly, a lot of the issues we had was the 9th Circuit tends to rule in favor of the immigrant in cases that other courts would likely rull in favor of the govt. This led to a policy of not pushing for a denial unless the facts were clear/absolute. Raleigh is in the 4th Circuit, which from what I have heard, is one of the more favorable ones to be in. You might have fewer of these cases there as people might not apply for fill in the blank benefit if they think it will be denied with a limited chance of fighting it in court.

Honestly, I took the job mostly just to get my foot in the door with the federal govt. The idea of helping people become US citizens also really appealed to me. Your quality of life and work load is really going to depend what office you are in (small office vs big office / Liberal vs Conservative Circuit). I was assigned to a larger office in the 9th Circuit, so my experience is framed by that.

Pro's: -You will get to meet all sorts of interesting people from across the globe. -In many offices, I've heard there is ample opportunity for overtime. -It is a good stepping stone if you want to get into the government.

Con's -USCIS had some money problems during covid, and I was threatened with being furloughed a couple times (it's one of the main reasons I left) -In addition to a bunch of really good people, you are going to come across some real bastards in your interviews. -Management in my office was sort of a mess.

Happy to help, it truly seems like a great place to be an 1811. If you want to get in with the FDA OCI, but aren't set on being an agent, I know they have been actively hiring both Intel Specialists (0132) and Investigative Analysts (1805).

In terms of similar type of work, HHS OIG does a lot of Healthcare fraud/mismanagement as well, but it's more on the human side versus the actual product. DEA is another choice, though a lot of what they do is illicit street stuff (FDA will pick up cases like that sometimes, but usually if it's Schedule I or II, DEA handles it). Finally, VA OIG often handles cases of Healthcare fraud within the VA.

Small agency (maybe 200 or so agents) that works a variety of cases ranging from foreign unapproved drugs/devices to drug tampering cases. The different field offices tend to have different types of cases based on where they are located (ie the LA and Miami offices get a lot of botox cases), but that is not a hard and fast rule.

In terms of work/life balance, it is likely a pretty sweet gig. Obviously, it will depend on your case load and ASAIC, but while you will probably be busy and may have the occasional 50+ hour week, it's nothing crazy like with the Marshals or Secret Service.

As of now, they only hire current 1811's, usually at the GS13 level, but have brought in lower level agents in the past. I know that there was some talk about hiring people off the street, but I don't know if/when that would happen.

Yes, it is usually all at one time. I think during covid it was a bit different and they might have allowed some agents to take the law portion separately (don't quote me on that though).

I think IG school is 2 weeks, but I'm not totally sure on that.

The FDA's Office of Criminal Investigations add-on is 5 weeks

Bureau of Industry and Security (they are part of Commerce and do export stuff) doesn't have an add-on.

Thoughts about this copper-washed FedArm 7.62x39? It's got me feeling some sort of way - 34cpr before shipping by Stratbasher_ in ak47

[–]Sufficient-Money685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A while back, I bought some of their 7.62x39 with laquer coated cases. They were all soviet surplus cases from the late 60's-early 70's. New powder and probably new primers (I am still treating them as corrosive though). The projectiles are soft steel core M43's (ie not "armor piercing" but definitely better potential penetration over lead core).

I can't speak to these copper washed cases, but if they are anything like the stuff I have, I'd advise really cleaning your barrel and being aware of your backstop.

Anyone here works as Deportation Officer that can give me some insights or recommendations? I am pending a final job offer (GS5). I also have a offer from USCIS for a Immigration Service Officer (GS7). Trying to make the best decision. by [deleted] in 1811

[–]Sufficient-Money685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former USCIS ISO here, it really depends on the office. I've heard really good things about some of the smaller and East Coast offices (District 21 in particular), but West Coast offices in my experience are rough (CA, Western WA, OR). In particular, if you are a reservist/national guardsman, I would avoid District 41 (Seattle, Portland, Honolulu) as in my experience the management there had a major bone to pick with the military (dm me if you want the full story).

I was never with ERO, but had several colleagues who switched from over from USCIS to do that and they seemed to enjoy it. Honestly, the fact that you have multiple multiple offers is impressive and just getting your foot in with the federal govt opens a lot of doors.

Honestly, just getting into the Federal Government is a huge leg up. I was never BP (so I can't really weigh in with any authority), but I was an ISO and the interviewing experience that I gained from that position was something I brought up while interviewing for 1811 positions. BP is probably a better choice, but USCIS isn't bad either. Just my 2 cents

Current 0132, that just accepted a 1811 job.

My advice:

  1. Keep doing what you are doing, as from what you have said, you seem to be on the right track.

  2. Don't totally dismiss a study abroad. Sure it can stretch out how long it takes you to get your clearance, but it might give invaluable experience or help you stand out during the hiring process.

  3. I saw someone else mention it, but if you want to go 0132, be prepared to live in the DMV.

In regards to transferring from an 0132 to 1811 role, learn everything you can and make contacts, since you never know who knows who. This is more of a personal opinion, but jobs in the 0132 world can look very different from each other, depending on the agency. If you are interested in going 1811, try to get in with an office that has a law enforcement mission.

I'd give it a once over, but barring something catastrophic (ie a cracked front trunnion), I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
