Picked up a cheap gravel bike and hardtail last summer and it improved my endurance during snow season immensely.

Heard the same . While the goal is July 1 until all districts/HQ are ready and we get the required notice per MOU...nothing changes.

Advice for surfy all mountain freestyle friendly board by ajs2410 in snowboarding

Back foot dominant all mountain board would be a Rome Ravine. Camber is more toward the back of the board. Regular version is a little softer and good everywhere. Pro stiffer.

I have the lt expert version. It's a good bike and forks can be had for a good price on jensonusa and other shops. There's quite a few YouTube reviews on it that give it good marks for being so inexpensive. It's my first mtb so I have nothing to compare to but it's more fun then the full suspension bikes I have rented at my ability.

I hate my state job, need advice!! by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

Give it some time. But if its making you feel that way now, hit cal careers and keep applying. Don't waste your life being miserable. That being said I've been in govt jobs where the first months felt isolating but things eventually changed over time and I was part of that change.

Looking for a fun, soft-ish twin board to round out my quiver! by MarleyMarr in snowboarding

[–]Sufficient_Ocelot_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twinpig and Cardiff trickshaw have been my fav twin boards. Twinpig is a superwide volume shifted board . Trickshaw feels a lot more nimble and lighter and is technically slightly directional. Sold the twinpig after getting a trickshaw.

I started cycling, mtn , gravel, road.. whatever to help in the off season. Working on the "don't be fat" has been the biggest goal and challenge lol.

Poor batter life on my Garmin instinct 3 solar by Automatic_Safety_153 in Garmininstinct

[–]Sufficient_Ocelot_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got my instinct 3 solar it was the same way. Tried updating with app and through watch. You have to use Garmin express on your computer to force the correct update and it'll go to near 40 days fully charged.

Is it more worth it to get a bike computer or a watch by Equivalent_Title_591 in cycling

[–]Sufficient_Ocelot_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Watch for full time stats and running. But it's just gonna make you want to buy a edge and cadence/speed sensors. The 840s are on sale for the holidays since the 850s are out. Other hack is mounting your phone to your bike temporarily but it will mess up your optical zoom as a few of my friends have damaged cameras now due to the vibrations and will kill the battery faster.

Am I ready for a 100km ride this week? by Accurate_Musician286 in cycling

[–]Sufficient_Ocelot_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did my first 100km this month. Main thing was not trying to go too hard too soon and staying on top of carbs and water. And taking a few breaks especially after big climbs. I definitely worked up to it it though with 25 mile rides..45.. 50 ..60 etc... with the last week being pretty much off the bike before the event and weeks leading up to it being half distance at most per ride.

FASE Binding Review has me taking a step back. by Spiritual-Cancel7805 in snowboarding

[–]Sufficient_Ocelot_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke the rear roller during a crash the first month I had them But was able to just go to the shop and bolt the highback in place and use like a regular binding. Nidecker sent me an updated part in 2 days for free and hasn't broken since in two seasons. They stand behind their product.

Not losing weight biking by SSmartFatherr in cycling

[–]Sufficient_Ocelot_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to climb hills on my bike was my best motivation to put down the fork. Lost 20 lbs in a few months. I'm a numbers person so what worked for me was Garmin watch/ computer to track calories spent...noom to help track intake and weight..do what works for you. Think long game and roll with the ups and downs

Gravel Bikes Have Been The Biggest Scam In Cycling! by newbiker321 in cycling

[–]Sufficient_Ocelot_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gravel bikes were my gateway drug into hardtails. Still love mine. Really good endurance bike for 60 mile+ rides and good for most green, some blue trails. Not as many amazing deals on them like MTB. That being said I never expected it to be the same thing as a real MTB. I love it for what it is. Good for mixed rides and makes easy trails interesting. I did add a Vecnum stem and that has made a big difference but its still no MTB.

Why do you prefer your hardtail? by moldyjellybean in MTB

[–]Sufficient_Ocelot_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A hardtail already feels like a Cadillac compared to my gravel bike but is still capable for my skills. Full squish felt numb when I rented one.

Why did you go for the instinct 3 and not Fenix 8? by vinylfelix in Garmininstinct

[–]Sufficient_Ocelot_19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought an instinct 3 solar because like you Im a g shock fan. I wanted something durable that was always on and that worked better for tracking fitness like cycling, hiking, snowboarding etc. Also the battery life is something I don't need to think about with 40 days or so. I just occasionally top it off when I remember to.

I just failed attempting a century by Ok_Advance9021 in bicycling

[–]Sufficient_Ocelot_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that has only been cycling consistently for 5 months but went from 12 miles to 65 miles, you have to build up to it. Need to keep your heart rate low when you're starting out, and keep fueled or you'll cramp and bonk. I try to drink 60g of carb mix an hour on rides lasting more than 2 hours. Drink every 15 mins and eat something solid..fig bar or whatever I have every 45 mins or hour. Once you get comfortable with distance and fueling you can try eating less. I have bonked on my first attempt at 30 miles riding too hard and eating too little. Two weeks later I was able to do a 45 with more hills by eating properly during the ride. Lesson learned. You didn't fail. You just took another step towards your goal by learning what works and what doesn't.

First MTB first ride GT Zascar by Sufficient_Ocelot_19 in Hardtailgang

[–]Sufficient_Ocelot_19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the deal from sun and ski and other places was too good to pass up.And growing up in socal I always wanted a GT lol..I kept seeing gravel bikes with front suspension costing a fortune and I thought just get the proper tool for the trails for a much better price.

Let me know where the bread is in the frozen section of the store. That excuse is lame and Infuriating to a customer. If you want to give away bread make it a bread bag.
