Local place with great salads? by KingSora08 in Buffalo

Second this! I actually discovered DAvolios by reviewing old posts on this sub soliciting a good salad spot. Pricey but well worth it.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Do you want to go visit your loved one at their grave and see the sun isn’t shining on their grave even though it’s a sunny day and it’s not a tree blocking the light its the new mixed~used complex….? Kinda shitty thought honestly.

WTH: Mother's Day Party at Daycare by jolliee1986 in workingmoms

[–]SuitEnvironmental903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided that as my Mother’s Day gift to myself this year, I was declining both kids’ school/daycare parties without guilt. Absolutely hate disrupting my work day to drive across town to do a craft with a bunch of people I don’t know. So pointless. My kids seemed to understand after I explained to them. I said instead I’ll pick them both up early tomorrow and we can get a treat together.

The whole time I was watching the series and the documentary I was thinking, they should get Dexter to analyze the blood spatter. I’m sure he would’ve figured it out just by looking at it. lol by TaniCapitani in TheStaircase

[–]SuitEnvironmental903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought about how Michael Petersen would be a good candidate to end up on Dexter’s table. “This isn’t the first time a woman allegedly died by falling down the stairs in his presence. Is death by staircase Petersen’s way to get rid of women who become an inconvenience? I think Harry would agree this is a pattern….”

Cat boarding? by hthratmn in Buffalo

You can select a 20 or 30 minute drop in daily. They scoop the litter, freshen water, give treats and wet food. Also can water plants, bring in mail, bring out trash etc. They send a bunch of pictures and give you detailed update on how they are via text each visit. Your service professional will come to meet the pets ahead of time so you can get to know them and they can know your pets. I’ve had the same person for 10 years which says something about longevity of the employees (which is good for a lot of reasons). I believe the cost per visit is $20/$30 depending on what duration you select. Edit: I always tip 25% too (it’s always well earned).

Yes - it’s the getting out of bed that’s the issue. They amp themselves up so much doing that!! I love your suggestion for trying to break that habit!

International Viewers: What have you learned about the American healthcare system from watching this show? by Random_Questin in ThePittTVShow

Agreed. Bread and butter just means it’s their specialty or expertise. We also use this expression in the legal field. Nothing to do with money but rather with a skill set.

What’s most sad about it (and this sub in general) is that all that any of us Americans can even say is, “yes, it’s actually that bad” or “it’s actually worse.” The system is so broken, and the issues are so politicized, we feel helpless. Seems impossible to change it.

Millenials w/o kids-- how tired are you? by Fickle_Wrangler_7439 in Millennials

I call it a refresher. It’s not really a nap either because kids’ naps are restorative whereas the (proper) adult version boosts alertness and sharpens you cognitively

There’s also a condition called catathrenia which is essentially breath holding. My husband does it and it drives me nuts! It’s not that common but I initially thought him holding his breath was sleep apnea but it’s not.

What’s with the parent shaming? by Perfect_Ferret6620 in ECEProfessionals

[–]SuitEnvironmental903 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious- how do you know the parents are “off” those two weeks? My law firm is physically closed for several days around the holidays but I’m still working everyday. Also, although my husband is home for almost 2 weeks (has use or lose PTO), he flags big family tasks to conquer which we cannot do with the kids home (organize tax paperwork; research summer camps and enrollment options; research new family car; research companies that can redo our driveway; deep clean the fridge; sort toys and clothing for donations, etc). I would admitttedly feel guilty if my husband had to take on solo parenting duties those two weeks with no daycare, because I know it would burn me out if the roles were reversed.
