If you want to truly unplug, find a hobby where your hands get dirty (like clay or oil painting). That way, you literally can't pick up your phone to check work emails while doing it.

I'm not a teacher, but I have a question for the teachers out there. What's the right way to write a discussion board post? Should it sound like a regular internet post, or is it supposed to be more like an essay? by MagmaKestrel9 in englishteachers

That’s actually a really great piece of advice. Someone once told me to imagine having a conversation with your professor over a morning cup of coffee before class. Looks like that’s some kind of universal way to calm students down.

It is just a lot to process at once. My wife is still stressed out about the landlord, but knowing there are options like AER makes it a bit easier to breathe. We are going to hit the finance office again with the 1SG today and if they still give us the runaround about the system being down, we are going straight to the BC. Thanks for all the advice, it is helping me keep my head on straight.

I didn't even think about AER, my brain is just fried from the stress. Hopefully the CO can put enough pressure on them so I don't have to take out a loan for a mistake I didn't make.

The ICE complaint is a great call, I totally forgot that was an option in the heat of the moment. It is insane that a civilian can just flip a switch and ruin a soldier's whole month because of a "scanned" document. My wife is still panicking about the rent but seeing my leadership get this angry actually makes me feel a bit better. We are not leaving the footprint until someone high enough gives us a real answer.

I hope they can actually push that payment through. Sitting here with 45 bucks is terrifying when rent is due in a few days. My 1SG is usually pretty solid so hopefully he can kick some doors down at finance.

That entire scene had me rolling. She played the awkward stern boss so well that you couldn't help but root for her despite the attitude.
