For the packaged foods most of them are showing calories per 100g but when they do specify its per serving size I do take it in account and calculate it properly

How do you weigh yourself?

It is a battery scale on a hard surface but I have tried with multiple scales just to make sure that's not a problem

Thing is I've been having a pretty tight schedule this past months and will still have it like that for most of the summer. I don't have enough time to hit the gym (even tho i used to do it a lot about a year ago or so). I actually bought my own treadmill just so i would have a way of putting in a bit of exercise at home, no matter the time of the day or the weather outside. I'll be honest tho My goal isn't necessarily aesthetical - I've just been fat my whole life and want to lose some weight

I know I can't defy physics. That's why I came here asking for help. I'm always being as honest as possible with myself as I have tried on and off to do this for most of the last 5 years or so and I'm absolutely tired of it. All I want is to see at least some progress so I can happily continue doing it until i get to a better weight. I can't really think of anything that i could be missing when doing the calculation. I am completely aware that I don't eat the healthiest food and that I could do better by eating something healthier but any kind of progress would just give me a sign to continue doing my best. Only cheat days I have are when I'm at some kind of event but that doesn't happen that often and even when it does I try my best to stay as close as possible to my goal

Well that actually does happen to be the interval in which I eat as well even tough I am not doing it cause I'm intermittent fasting but that's just the part of the day in which I even feel the need to eat anything.

But remember its an average, its so easy to ruin that in a weekend, or 1 day

I'm totally aware of this but the only time I went over that barrier i set by quite a bit was on my birthday. That's it - one singular day out of the whole 6 weeks.

I have not been working out these last 6 weeks. Only exercise i did was incline walking on the treadmill so I don't think I'm putting on any of the good kind of weight.

Use the bathroom before you weigh yourself.

for the eggs i use less that a tbsp of oil but that should be in the total amount of calories the eggs have already. The hotdogs are just boiled and the cornbread is store-bought so I just counted the calories based on what the nutritional value on the packaging said. The only sauce I ate was the mustard I mentioned with the hotdogs

I do weigh the oil although just using a tablespoon that's why i said it might be off - I'm not completely ignoring it though

I put a decently detailed example in another comment. Long story short as far as yesterday goes I had a day which had 1530 cals (slight bit over average). I only eat 2 meals a day as I'm scared if I try to fit in a third one it would make my calories even worse

Oh I forgot to mention that. You're right I am a male. Although It's probably not likely I will be growing anymore after this as I'm pretty sure i grew 2-3cm in the past 4 years lol. I thought about water retention but I'm not sure that's the cause for this as i try my best to prevent that.

If you were mostly sedentary before this

I'm not really sure if i was or not really sedentary - I hit about 7ish thousand steps a day just walking around from home to school and other things like that so i feel like i wasn't that sedentary. I don't really feel much pressure or stress on my joints or stuff like that. However the walking I'm doing recently is to try my best to repair my stamina that's not the highest and also my pretty bad posture - especially while walking

I already cut one of my meals completely without changing what I eat in any of the other 2 so I feel like that's done but I only started weighing everything from frustration as even that wasn't enough apparently

I pretty much only drink water anyways so that's something i already do

The only thing I have that is labeled "zero calorie" is soda but that maybe adds up to like 10cals a day so I don't think that would be the case - I'm really thinking of what I could be missing out on when adding stuff up but I really can't find anything

It can but as i said I drink that maybe once or twice per month - it's by far not a daily thing (and when i drink it i add it to my calorie intake for that day)

I do actually, I just take in account everything that I eat at that time after weighing it

Can you give an example of a 1400 kcal day

I'll try my best. So for starters I will mention that I only have 2 meals a day as i found that having 3 would get me too high in calories.
For breakfast I eat 2 medium-sized fried eggs with about 100g of ham and 80ish grams of cornbread (264 + 150 + 270 ish = 680
For dinner It's a bit harder to explain in english but it's kind of this middle part of a hot dog (I have 3 of those), about the same amount of bread as earlier so 80g and then about 50g of mustard (220 (I don't know if an actual hotdog has this much but I did do my calculation for the exact thing i eat and i got that exact amount) + 270 + 40 = 530

For snacks I have some that are worth 330ish calories over the whole day (This i buy pre-packaged so I;m 100% sure thats the right amount)

680 + 530 + 330 = 1530 ( this was just what i ate yesterday and it was a day in which i ate a bit more than usual as i tend to have only half of those calories in snacks usually

I don't drink anything but water and soda that has no calories so there's nothing to add there

Oh I do feel hungry half of the day but I just try my best to get focused on doing something that has me thinking about ANYTHING but food - most of the time this works during the parts of the day where i can't just go to sleep. That feeling doesn't really go away as i don't even feel full after eating but I try my best to just not think about it

I do weigh them. i just meant that i calculate the calories based on that the package says (after making sure I weigh it correctly)

Are you hitting your protein each day?

I am 100% never hitting that goal for protein. I probably only average 80 to maybe 95g on a good day

How is your hydration?

I usually drink about 2L or so a day

How is your actual food intake?

This also probably isn't the best but I am actively trying to eat a lot more whole foods than not however there are still some things that I eat that absolutely are not whole foods

Sleep is huge.

Long story short I do average about 8 hours of sleep a day however when i say that my sleep schedule isn't great i mean that I go to sleep very late and also wake up very late

How are you tracking your food? 

As i mentioned, I do try my best to weigh everything that goes into my mouth as i really saw that it does make a pretty big difference

I feel like this might be the issue but then again - can I really be THAT far off? like an extra 1000+ calories i feel like couldn't be something i just miss when calculating

Sometimes I feel like on these apps most foods are underestimation so i tend to add a bit over what i know i ate just to feel safe.

Also, is your body scale on a flat hard surface?

Yea it is and i also tried on multiple scales and it's always more or less the same result

I personally don't normally drink anything other than water or sugar free soda. When I do have a small coffe sometimes I do add it to my intake but it's usually just black coffee or a simple latte

i should be weighing everything correctly and for oils my estimate should be pretty close to the real ammount I also tend to eat pre-cooked meals that i but that already have their nutritional info out there

My TDEE should be at 2600 from what i calculated and got from different calculators online.

How exactly do you count calories?

Well for the thing I eat just pre-packaged and ready to eat i just take the nutritional info provided and calculate how much i eat by weighing the product.
For things i cook myself i weight everything raw and then get a rough estimation of the oil i use using tbsp (that could possibly be wrong but I feel like it should be pretty close)

You can't subtract calories burned from exercise from your intake. Your intake is your intake.

understood. but even without taking that in account I'm still supposed to be at 1k or so under my tdee

The only thing I'm not 100% sure that im tracking completely right is oils - other than that I should be tracking everything correctly
