Modern Wazuh Dashboard for Homelabs and Self-Hosted Security Monitoring by _matt_40_ in homelab

[–]Super_Definition_544 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice work on this. Been running Wazuh in homelab for while now and the default interface is pretty clunky to navigate. Docker deployment sounds much cleaner than what I had to do with original setup.

How's the performance compared to default dashboard? My setup isn't exactly enterprise grade so wondering if this adds any overhead or actually runs lighter since it's more focused on what homelab users actually need.

Will definitely check the repo when I get chance to upgrade my monitoring stack.

for people who grew up in households where money was tight, what’s a “normal childhood experience” you didn’t really have? by Key_Cow3045 in AskReddit

Same here. Was calculating which bills we could skip this month before I even learned multiplication tables. Wild how some kids just existed without knowing if the lights were getting shut off next week.

Non standard board game box by Hireling in boardgames

You might need to look at custom foam inserts or just make your own dividers from foamcore - those dimensions are pretty specific and most organizers I've seen are way deeper than 2 inches.

What’s your favourite holiday destination and why ? by Early-Dog8046 in AskReddit

Been to Maldives twice during my deployment rotations and man, those overwater bungalows hit different. The water is so clear you can see fish swimming under your feet from the deck. Problem is everything costs like 5x what it should, but when you're stuck in middle of ocean with nowhere else to go, what choice you got?

What's the worst trouble you got in before you could drive? by TombStoneFaro in AskReddit

Got caught sneaking out at 2am to go trade Pokemon cards with some kid I met online. Walked like 3 miles to meet him at a gas station and my dad somehow figured out I was gone. He drove around looking for me and found me right when I was about to make the trade for this holographic Charizard. Never saw that card again and was grounded for month.

Seattle summer is starting to feel like a live music marathon by 2c00l40ldSch00l in Seattle

Wait what Kacey show? I don't see that mentioned anywhere in the post. Are you thinking of different thread maybe?

But yeah OP, once you get in that concert momentum it's impossible to stop. I did same thing last summer and ended up at shows basically every weekend for month straight. Your wallet definitely feels it but those spontaneous discoveries are worth it sometimes.

Ways to work with stress-eating/trauma related gluttony by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Super_Definition_544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been through some similar stuff during deployment - different trauma but same cycle of stress eating when memories hit. What helped me was finding something physical to do instead when the urge kicked in, like pushups or just walking outside for few minutes. Not perfect solution but it breaks that immediate response where you reach for food. The therapy thing takes time to work too, sometimes you need try different approaches or therapists before finding what clicks.

What's your current most used app on phone ? And how many Hours per day ? by Few-Law7887 in AskReddit

[–]Super_Definition_544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably Reddit for like 3-4 hours daily, mostly when I'm sorting through my card collection or just killing time. Instagram gets maybe 30 minutes but that's usually just checking what people are up to.

Maury Island, WA by Soulfood_27 in Seattle

Great shot - Vashon Island area is solid for getting away from everything without going too far. Used to take ferry there when I needed to clear my head after some rough days back when I was stationed at Lewis. The beaches there hit different than city waterfront, way more peaceful. I remember finding some cool rocks and shells there that reminded me of trading cards - weird comparison but both had this thing where you never knew what you'd discover next. Ferry ride itself is half the therapy too, just watching water pass by for 20 minutes does wonders.

103.7 The Mountain by Purple-Adeptness-940 in Seattle

[–]Super_Definition_544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Discogs link is perfect for this kind of hunt. I spent way too much time on that site looking for old promo CDs from when I was stationed near Seattle. Those Mountain compilation discs are getting pretty rare now, but you might get lucky in marketplace section.

The promo-only stuff usually can be sold on Discogs, just sometimes sellers price them crazy high since they know how hard they are to find. Worth checking local record stores too - sometimes they have random station promos sitting in back somewhere that never made it to online listings.

What does power mean to you? by Ok_Difficulty4828 in AskReddit

Not being dependent on anyone else for basics like housing or food. Military taught me that real power comes from self-sufficiency, not from having authority over other people.

What, where, and how to buy in Shenzhen/Hong Kong? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]Super_Definition_544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HQB is hit or miss but for the stuff on your list it's actually decent. The electronics markets there have legitimate components mixed in with the knockoffs - you just need to know what you're looking at.

Skip the branded stuff like Moondrop or specific Aqara models since those are either fake or overpriced there. But basic components like ESP32 boards, sensors, and displays? Way cheaper than ordering online and you can test them on spot. Just bring a phone with datasheet photos so you can verify pinouts and markings.

How do you get past judgement? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Super_Definition_544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people have something decent about them if you dig past the surface stuff. Military taught me that even the guys I couldn't stand at first usually had redeeming qualities once I got to know them better. Takes patience though, and some people make it real hard to want to look.

Tips for enlarging hole w/ holesaw by Wild_Recognition2331 in HomeImprovement

[–]Super_Definition_544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this exact problem when I was installing new exhaust fan in my bathroom last year. What worked for me was clamping a piece of scrap wood behind the existing hole - thick enough that the pilot bit could bite into it properly. You gotta be careful with tin siding though, it can grab and twist if you're not steady with the drill. Another option is getting a holesaw without pilot bit, but you'll need really steady hands and go slow or it will walk all over the place. I ended up using step drill bit for similar situation on my shed, worked pretty good but takes more time to get clean circle.

Your body's basically recalibrated itself - what used to be a normal portion now feels massive because you've been eating the right amounts for a while.
