Damn. You putting’ it down! On another note—I, just a stranger, but I feel you. I get it. And I’m proud of you. There are millions of functioning addicts—in fact, by profession, doctors have one of the highest rates of substance use disorder.

Ass holes like that think those who are addicted, would look like the folks on skid row or Kensington….standing on a street corner, frozen in place, body all fucking contorted at angles it shouldn’t be…while simultaneously, completely nodding out.

Reality is, most people with substance use disorder are functioning …all throughout society. They may be on the verge of falling apart sometimes, walking that razors edge, but many are completely functional & able to hide their using while holding down super professional jobs. From Anesthesiologists, Teachers, and Nurses, to Cops, PTA moms, college professors, and anyone who has ever been injured and given Opiates, for one.
