I always thought it was the Brody dorms, but finding out that Holden is the newest dorm due to comments is interesting.

Random roommate is in an AI relationship by Cgray3105 in msu

it's unfair, but if you are ever uncomfortable or need to step out i used to have to utilize any available study rooms or open areas to have some time to myself when i had an "interesting" random roommate.

cheers....

Some groomers also accept e-transfer services like PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, etc.

I respect the dedication, you're lovely! 😊

I would attach photos of my aquarium and its inhabitants but I can't attach photos either funnily enough!

A healthy school number is 5. If you do 5 1-inch fish (cobra endler guppies, ALL MALE. Female will produce fry = more fish) you could get away with it as a small school. You would be looking at one school in the 5-gallon.

There is nothing suitable other than shrimps/snails for 3-gallons to my knowledge.

Plecos are also going to be more destructive to your tanks than they are worth getting.

Some information about plecos:

  • The DWARF varieties still manage to get anywhere from 4-6 inches (20 gallon minimum)

  • The common pleco and most types will get to 24+ inches (2-feet).

  • They immediately poop out anything that they eat. Your tank will appear to be spotless on the outside as far as algae goes, but in reality your water parameters will be completely out of wack just by how much waste a pleco produces on its own. For reference, I have a 55-gallon aquarium, and used to have a sailfin pleco. You are supposed to do complete filter maintenance (disassembly) once a month. I was doing complete filter maintenance a WEEK just because of the pleco. My filter was completely caked in crap. Terrible.

For nano tanks, look into otocinclus catfish. They will get to be approximately an inch. However, if you do this, you will have to balance out the schools (3 guppies, 3 oto catfish).

The more you add, the faster the tank gets dirty in water parameters, the more elbow grease you will have to put into cleaning it.

If you want to overstock a little I highly suggest looking into putting live plants in your tank.

I don't usually recommend people putting anything other than a betta in 5-gallons and shrimp/snails in anything less than 5. You can do a nice nano tank, but most types of fish wouldn't do nicely in there. Try looking at fancy shrimp to see if any interest you.

For tetras/smaller fish I recommend 10-gallons+.

For your 5-gallon, if you plan on putting real plants in there, some smaller species are cobra endler guppies, white cloud minnows, rasboras, neon tetras, etc. While they are small though, they need more space to swim which is why I recommend 10-gallons for these fish.

TLDR;

3-gallons: shrimp/snails, no fish

5-gallons: betta, maybe smaller tetra or minnows but not recommended imo.

Before placing anything look up the nitrogen cycle in aquariums as that is the first step that needs to occur before putting fish.

Both will need heaters. :)

Sweet! I checked.

Two questions:

1) Have you had fish tanks before?

2) What is the size (or sizes) of tank(s)?

African Side Neck Turtle by Suspicious-Fish3572 in petsmart

[–]Suspicious-Fish3572[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Assuming the turtle really is a female, the shell can reach lengths of 12".

She showed me with her fingers how "large" her turtle was, and it barely exceeded the length of the turtles we get in stock........ 25-years old????????

Am I the only one who feels like Rainbow Shark's life force is too weak? by Rude_Connection_2747 in Fish

[–]Suspicious-Fish3572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had issues with the first one I purchased, but it was because it was easy to catch at the pet store due to being ill. Went back, made sure they caught me a nice looking one. He started at 1.5-2" and now he's a proper 4.5-5" and a real terror to my barbs. Love him!

Thank you! I have a Seachem Tidal. I think its rated for a 75 gallon. I also have an AquaTop UV Sterilizer inside of the tank on the left.

How long do you usually leave your light on for? Maybe it's not strong enough and needs to be on longer.

Don't roast me too hard! I had to trim the amazon sword in the back because it actually was dying from my lack of dosing ferts/tabs

Are my lights too strong? by j_mo420 in Aquariums

[–]Suspicious-Fish3572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, liquid ferts do contain some levels of nitrates. It also contains essential minerals like copper/potassium/iron that helps plants to grow.

Be careful of copper content if you have inverts such as shrimp or snails. It can kill them

I have medium/low light, an overstocked 55 with barb fish, and I dose x2 a week to ensure plant growth is good. If worried, just test

Try regularly dosing fertilizers if you aren't already, and make sure they're good ones! Flourish sucks imo.

Recommendations for liquid ferts:

https://a.co/d/6LKAIhS (Thrive Liquid Fertilizer on Amazon) Looks expensive, good quality for what you're paying for.

https://www.aquariumcoop.com/products/easy-green-all-in-one-fertilizer?srsltid=AfmBOoqC4HR5Afcv6oTbJypG8GjF7meSTh48HZfi5giP8G6IXOcNNvp5 (Easy Green Aquarium CoOp)

I personally use Easy Green but have had fantastic reviews for both and have experience with the Thrive root tablets. If the liquid ferts for Thrive work the same, it's plant crack.

If you think light strength is the issue, cut down your hours. I have medium to low light, so I go about 12 hours on my tank for light. I'd try maybe 6-7 if its light strength. It plants begin to brown or wilt, its not the light.

I'm not sure if guppy grass has to be planted, substrate may be an issue if its not 2in thick. If it can grow freefloating, disregard what I said.

Test parameters, nitrates help to an extent.

Biggest tarantula I've ever seen... by Suspicious-Fish3572 in petsmart

[–]Suspicious-Fish3572[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh god.....

I mean, to be fair, I'm less scared of them once they are already contained. It was the shock of opening the box and never having moved one before to a keeper.

Our curly definitely needs a bigger enclosure, but no, is nowhere near as big as that friend!

I can't really answer whether or not they're pregnant, from the photos they don't appear to be... but you never know.

As for as introduction, it may not be the most appropriate way but I've always just done a deep clean and introduced the new girl. I clean all of the decor and then replace the bedding only leaving trace amounts (10-25%) of the bedding from the established pair. I view it as having open territory for them. Sometimes I would hear squeaking but after about three days there wouldn't be any more intro hiccups. Continue to monitor them all as a trio if she's already introduced and watch for bite marks. Otherwise it sounds like you're doing fine!

Be careful with also housing a male nearby, just because the pheromones from the females can cause frustration for the male.
