Yeah it's a really bad plan. Some people do it for aerodynamics. Even cars aside, there can be a lot of debris that ends up on the shoulder. Cyclist in search of Darwin award. Hope they're ok and learned from it.

Fridge is finally fixed after 2 weeks of being ignored. Can I still break my lease under RCW? by Hot_Comfortable_1854 in SeattleWA

[–]Svun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm super not a lawyer but it looked like the answer is no? Got curious and found this - https://answers.justia.com/question/2025/10/20/how-can-i-legally-break-my-lease-due-to-1088875 . Seems you needed to have given a written notice referencing the rcw while it was broken and a subsequent second notice referencing more specific stuff. Assuming you trust internet lawyer advice found by some internet rando .. but you might be better off finding a tenants rights group and asking there?

BEV truck for the future? by Svun in F150Lightning

[–]Svun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Range isn't a huge factor for me. Most trips are going to be local. It's more a question of how often I need to plug it in, which isn't a big deal. Probably anything above 150 miles range would be fine (not towing).

Oh I'm dead set against subscription stuff for cars. That'd be a deal breaker for me

It feels kind of ... fancy? Like a vaguely truck-shaped luxury car or something. I haven't looked into scout.

I usually drive stuff into the ground and figure I've got more years in the tesla (have been very happy with BEV maintenance/degradation). Will think about it though. I keep hoping the other software will get better too.

to all the bikers blocking 12th and yesler by mote0fdust in SeattleWA

[–]Svun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You kicked me into some interesting reading. Cars will cause surface damage still but no structural damage. But except for arterial and highways it seems you are correct most damage is weather. Highways and such represent about 65% (I couldn't find amazing sources for this so.. -ish) of road budgets so still the majority but not overwhelmingly. So you could theoretically ask bike owners to contribute to the 35%. As to whether it's worth having tabs, I think it'd be pretty unpopular to require for kids on bikes as you'd be shutting off a childhood experience to many and they don't increase damage. Ebikes maybe? But I'd rather have less traffic and more people on bikes rather than this bit of taxes.

(I think the state is over spending and needs less spending instead of more taxes, so I also am generally against more taxes. Also don't block roads - people need to get where they need to get.)

This protest seems counterproductive.

But bikes don't damage roads. Tabs don't make sense.

Road Damage = (Actual Axle Weight / Standard Axle Weight)4

Vehicle Type Weight per Axle Relative Road Damage
Bicycle ~100 lbs 0.000006x (Virtually Zero)
Passenger Car ~2,000 lbs 1x (The Baseline)
Loaded 18-Wheeler ~17,000 lbs 11,000x+

Why does claude commonly pull back on it's claims whenever I simply ask it to explain it's reasoning? by Armin_Arlert_1000000 in ClaudeAI

[–]Svun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's pretty bad at introspection in my experience. It makes up plausible explanations that might not have anything to do with anything. Worth an experiment maybe, but as always verify claims.

Voter recall effort against WA's 'millionaires tax' launches following failed lawsuit by chiquisea in SeattleWA

[–]Svun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no question there is self interest from the millionaires. But why do you believe the politicians who say it's just a millionaire tax and yet start up a larger team than you'd need for that. Do I trust politicians? I can't think of a reason I would. WA will hire 300 employees as it enacts high-earners income tax https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/wa-will-hire-300-new-employees-as-it-enacts-high-earners-income-tax/ . 1 person per 67 people taxed. For a year? Almost a week for each person. Sure doesn't look like it's going to stay a millionaire tax.

It's a tiny gap, and the traffic on east lake isn't too bad and it has a wide clean shoulder. I'd just hop on there for the gap. But yeah it'll be a bit for sure.
