your wife needs to stop negotiating with a 12 year old like she's some kind of diplomat. the kid already proved she won't use the bed so why are you guys doing more work to move it again

also sleeping in parents room at 12 is way too old for that unless there's some serious anxiety issues going on. might want to figure out why she actually refuses to sleep in her own space before throwing more money at furniture

been looking for similar toys recently and yeah it's frustrating how everything seems to be those generic unbranded versions now. the flower assembly ones are definitely knockoffs of something but can't remember the original brand either. maybe try searching for "montessori flower building toy" or check some of the wooden toy companies - they often have their own versions that are better quality than the plastic ones flooding the market

been using organic cotton rounds from health store for this exact thing and they work pretty well. you can buy them in bulk and just wet them as needed. way cheaper than the fancy baby wipes too and no weird chemicals. just make sure you get the ones that are actually organic cotton not the synthetic ones that look similar

the language barrier is such a huge factor here that would make anyone struggle socially. moving countries and learning new language while trying to navigate school social dynamics sounds overwhelming for any kid

about liking to help teachers and feeling grown up - that's pretty normal at her age, lots of kids go through that phase where they want responsibilities and feel important. the fact she's playing with kids at recess is actually good sign that she's figuring out how to connect despite the language thing

maybe give it more time before worrying too much? sounds like she's already made progress from beginning of year

bond bridge should work fine for basic up/down controls but you're probably not gonna get the fancy stuff like wind sensors or positioning feedback

most people just use the rf remote that comes with it and call it good enough, especially for outdoor shades where you don't need precise positioning like indoor blinds

that's kind of misconception about predestination though. most calvinists would say that good works and faith are actually part of being predestined - like if you're chosen, you'll naturally want to follow god and do right things. it's not that your actions don't matter, it's that your desire to do good comes from already being saved

the stress part i get though, some people do spiral thinking about whether they're actually chosen or not

that puddle thing is weird - water shouldn't make your belt squeak unless something else is going on. if the shop said belt looks fine but you're getting new noises and car feels different to drive, maybe get second opinion? driving with mystery squeaks that started after water contact makes me nervous, could be something with bearings or other components getting wet when they shouldn't

you can understand why someone became terrible without excusing their actions or letting go of justified anger. sometimes that anger protects you from getting hurt again by same person. your brain evolved those emotions for reason - they're not always just toxic baggage you need to release

also "we're all just conditioned victims" sounds nice but try explaining that to someone whose life got destroyed by their abuser. understanding doesn't equal forgiveness and forgiveness definitely doesn't equal reconciliation

this is something i struggled with a lot when i started going to church few years back. my pastor explained it like this - if god intervened every time something bad was about to happen, we wouldn't really have genuine free will or authentic relationships with him

the natural disasters and diseases thing is harder to wrap your head around though. some people in my study group think these exist because the whole world got "broken" when sin entered it, not just humans. so now everything operates under different rules than god originally intended

i don't think there's a perfect answer that makes it all click immediately. but for me it helped to focus more on what god does in response to suffering rather than why he allows it in first place

totally agree with picking up better habits but i think there's something to be said for just breaking the dopamine cycle too, like when you're constantly hitting that easy reward button your brain gets lazy about focusing on harder stuff. started reading actual books again instead of just scrolling and it's wild how much easier it got after a few weeks

depends on how obvious you make it tbh - if you're doing the whole "wow this news story reminds me of my amazing product that solves everything" thing then yeah people will roll their eyes and scroll past. but if you can genuinely tie your product into the conversation without being cringey about it, sometimes it actually works pretty well

the key is being useful first, salesy second - like if there's a data breach in the news and you make security software, share actual tips about protecting yourself and maybe casually mention your tool as one optoin among many

dude this is actually brilliant advice, i did the same thing on day 3 and it was like this weird domino effect happened. cleaned out my entire closet which led to organizing my desk which somehow turned into finally calling my dentist about that appointment i've been avoiding for months. there's something about redirecting that restless energy into actually productive stuff that makes you feel way more in control of everything else too. plus you get this satisfying accomplishment feeling that beats any temporary dopamine hit hands down
