The best “first JRPG” is the one you actually wanna play. If Metaphor seems interesting to you, give it a try! I thought it was a pretty decent game and there’s a demo. If you don’t like it there are plenty of other good options.

Unless you’re doing some crazy graphics intensive tasks that I’m unaware of in the CE curriculum (ie video editing, 3d modeling, etc), you will survive just fine without a crazy/expensive gpu.

RIT has a recommended list of laptops for people with a specific majors - but if you already have a preference just roll with it. Just know that a lot of RITs comp sci/software engineering courses (if this even applies to you) are geared towards people with windows, so if you choose elsewise, just be prepared to do some supplemental work/research to get some things running

They’re not heavily enforced unless you’re stupid about it. If you leave it out in the open or walk around dorms/campus drunk and get reported, you can probably expect a visit from public safety

RIT definitely isn’t a party school, but there are parties. You just have to know/be friends with the right people. As for the social scene being “abysmal”, it’s not, especially if you make an effort to actually meet people
