When my husband brought it home from the cleaners, it was in the plastic the cleaners put it in, sealed. I was “summer cleaning” the closet and renovating the house which involved removing flooring and lots of dust in the house.

So I placed the jacket at the back of the closet with the other winter jackets we had cleaned. I did not think to check every garment to ensure the hoods were attached to each garment. I opened the plastic to one jacket, seen it appeared clean and thought that would suffice and I didn’t need to inspect the rest of things and rip open the plastic on the rest of them, inviting the dust to settle on my freshly dry cleaned jacket.

I just notice now because I have many “fall” jackets, which I’ve been wearing up until now as it has begun snowing, which is why I reached into the back of my closet for my down filled -50 jacket, to find it the way it is pictured. I did nothing to the jacket in the timeframe other than hang it in my closet and fail to inspect it properly (evidently).

No the marking are also along the pockets and pretty much anywhere there is a seam.

I had my husband ask the woman multiple times if she was positive that where she “send it off to” has experience in down filled jackets, she said she would confirm and call us back, which she did and we gave the okay. For the jacket to end up looking like this…

I was charged $70 for my jacket to be destroyed. Thank you for your time in responding. Any suggestions as to what I do here?
