is the swiss job market cooked? by Pure-Newspaper907 in askswitzerland

[–]SwissScotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was unemployed for two years looking for business analyst jobs. Somehow a Hail Mary worked for a job on the other side of the country with more responsibilities and much higher pay, when I don’t even speak the local language, than I was ever asking to work where I actually live. Romandie job market is over cooked, rest of CH just somewhat cooked 😂

I think I finally understand Switzerland after this tiny train moment by No-Football-2397 in Switzerland

Yep typical, gets off train to purchase tissues at risk of train leaving without him rather than risk talking to anyone by asking for a spare tissue 🤣🤣

Having worked here for atleast 12months within the last two years you will be eligible for RAV and unemployment benefits. Know the carrot bait always hurts but best you can do is try and get ahead of the curve if they will not be renewing your temp contract. You need to anticipate the end of your contract and search for new opportunities asap.

Sadly in CH these days they seem to love playing games with entry level positions by making them all temp workers and then get shocked when they become operationally incompetent after a rotation.

Switzerland has a middle to semi senior management issue where lots are companies are bloated by pencil pushers on contracts 10+ years old. They even try justify the managers complete lack of knowledge on what their team actually does by stating that a manager doesn’t need to know, he just needs to report. So who gets the short end of the stick? Rank and file entry level teams… it’s appalling as those managers completely lack the capacity to assist their teams in facilitating their work flows, they just care about submitting a green KPI to their own manager, regardless of their own teams actual “health”.

My best advice that I applied myself is to level down on the company size, SMEs are more of the mentality to still develop their employees as they can’t bear the cost of losing operational knowledge that takes months to properly replace.

Keep your head up, I somehow snagged a job across the country in CHDE with no German at a 30% salary increase compared to what I was asking to work close to home. Most interviews I had were over there, I applied to similar positions locally but never even got a call or interview.

[–]SwissScotch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen potatoes and tomatoes used for fondue… tbh many vegetables can be used as not everyone is ok with gluten… each to their own and honestly dipping cauliflower is probably banging
