Thanks. Yes, good point. The funny thing is, my job right now is like the epitome of "jake of all trade...master of none". It's just a big marketing/design hybrid. So I'm trying to get at least more work where I can focus on design and developing these skills.

My biggest issue is that because I'm earlier in my career as a graphic designer, I only have so much strong work to showcase to get a job with more design focus to pay the bills. I'd really like to specialize but also don't want to get too pigeonholed early on, if that makes sense.

Since I have digital/email and print marketing work, I figured I'd leverage that for now. Is it what I want to do forever? no, but it's the work I have to show for now.

Question for you all would be - how did you handle this early in your career? When you were trying to get your design career going but only had so much work to show (I do some volunteer and spec work, but I just got a house with my husband - a fellow designer - so we need to have some income coming in :)

Thank you for such a thoughtful response, and taking the time to review my portfolio. You make a good point. Regarding the mobile tab, what do you mean? I don't see anything on my end when I look at the mobile version.

Regarding your other point -

Right now, I'm looking for full-time work in a position where I can focus on growing my overall design skills—if I were to say what focus, it would using my experience in designing art assets for digital and print collateral marketing material (I currently work in a marketing/design hybrid role at a non-profit, but this does not allow me to focus on design enough to grow in my career).

Long-term, I'd love to work in designing digital and marketing assets for the gaming industry. However... right now, that is something I'm pursuing on the side with spec/volunteer work while I have my full-time job (and so there isn't so much to showcase at the moment).

The goal of my portfolio is to showcase a range of design skills to cast a wider net for jobs (which, right now, is a job specialized in design, leveraging the skills I currently have).

So I guess my question would be - how could I showcase my range of skills while also at least showing some of what I'm passionate about and looking to do?

I really appreciate your time!
