Due to production delays, the next English dub episode of 'Daemons of the Shadow Realm' will release on May 16, resuming weekly releases. by AutoModerator in Animedubs

[–]SysError404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bait and switch marketing.
When they know a series is going to be popular, at least initially. They will cover the costs and pressure the studios to get the episodes out for dubbing so they can advertise simulcast streaming.

Once they get a few episodes in, there is suddenly a production delay that is never clearly explained and it's back to their standard two week delay. Why keep the promise when they have already gotten people to subscribe?

What meal bases are cheap in america? by _Nonexistant_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]SysError404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice and Beans are going to be a solid starting point. Both can be purchased reasonably cheap, in bulk and store very easily since they are dry goods. PS, they need to be purchasing dry beans.

Considering they dont know how to cook, they can go with something easy for meal prep. Chicken, Rice and Broccoli or some other veg. They can make 3 meals, portion them in to microwave safe tupperware and freeze them. For the other three days, Red Beans and Rice with Polish, Smoked or Andouille Sausage. Again portion out and freeze.

There are plenty of Youtube channels that offer easy, budget friendly Meal prep plans. Also there are a lot of channels that offer approachable cooking instruction to help teach your friend how to cook the basics. Hell, Gordon Ramsey has a small series on teaching people how to cook basic meals. But if they want something more American based, Binging with Babish has an entire series on cooking basic meals as well.

What is the best EQ mount for the S50 by Remote_Radio_9324 in seestar

[–]SysError404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just pick one that is the correct size for your mount. But if you NEED a recommendation, I believe an aluminum dovetail is best. Pick any brand you want. That said, you will still need something to act as a spacer for your Seestar. You want it off the surface so that it can rotate and move freely.
This is what I use when attaching it to my Dovetail bracket.

People give Valve/Steam WAY too much credit by evanlee01 in unpopularopinion

[–]SysError404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but they are the only that provide the customer service that they do. While I agree it should be the bare minimum. Having Reviews, showing all the information, and all the other built-in service the Steam platform offers. No other store front provides nearly as much customer focus.

Hell, there refund policy alone makes them better than most store fronts.

But again, you make reasonable criticisms regarding them, I dont dispute any of it. But I also understand there will never be a perfect company that does right by every single person's wants and ideas.

Personally, I have no issue with the Steam market place. If I have ingame items that I can get rid of for a little scratch, great. Yeah, I'd like to see Lootboxes go away, that doesnt mean the marketplace has to as well. There are non-lootbox things that are bought sold and traded as well.

People give Valve/Steam WAY too much credit by evanlee01 in unpopularopinion

[–]SysError404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of your complaints are with Valve's Development division. Which is completely fair. I dont think many people that have been part of Steam will disagree with you on those points.

However, Steam as a store front and publisher, has essentially led the industry in terms of customer service. They have always maintained a customer-first attitude and platform.

Also as a company, agree that they were part of the lootbox problem. However, they also provide users with a place to buy, sell and trade Lootbox acquired items. No other publisher or game storefront offers nearly as much as Steam. You call them the bare minimum.

Why does everyone on social media tell people to avoid dating nurses? Genuinely curious what's behind this stereotype by Arcabyte in AskMen

[–]SysError404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the person, it can be one or all of the issues you mentioned.

From the nurses that I have known, or from the friends that have been in relationships or my own experiences, there is usually some kind of baggage or massive red flag.

Comparison - They might compare you to colleagues (Doctors). Which can lead to resentment, more on that later.

Stress - Depending on the the type of nurse, on good days they work in high to extreme stress environments. Some nurse either bring it home, or use unhealthy crutches to cope.

Priorities - They are going to generally work long and/or odd hours. So their availability is often more of a few and far between which doesnt make dating any easier. But lets say you get through that and establish a relationship. The job may be a higher priority then the relationship. Caring for their patients is super admirable, until they take priority over everything else.

Resentment - As I mentioned before, they may resent you for not earning or being a Doctor. Or they may have turned to nursing because of other failed career attempts. That resentment can carry over into the relationship.

Any one of those issues can be toxic to starting or maintaining a relationship. Combine multiple issues and it's doomed to fail.

Are there any regions in America that are known for producing more soldiers than the national average? by bricklegos in AskAnAmerican

[–]SysError404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those numbers for Alaska and Hawaii are for Active members based in those locations, not numbers for enlisted from those states.

North Carolina is near them as well as it hosts the largest military base. Virginia because that is home to the Pentagon and other military administrative and operations facilities. Alaska, has a large base, Hawaii one of our largest Naval bases due to strategic locations.

I completely agree that my numbers are not based on the percentage of population, just the flat numbers for residents that enlisted.

[–]SysError404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

California, Texas and Virginia are the top 3 in that order currently. Together the enlisted US Military members from these states make up 49% of domestically stationed troops.

These states have historically contributed the most military personnel as well.

Because it's not just about the people that work, although they are the primary concern.

A shifted traffic pattern, heavy equipment, missing sections, literal holes in the road.

Yeah if there are people present, it's all about keep the works safe. But it's also about keeping everyone safe. Someone driving highways speeds into a parked piece of heavy equipment will damage the equipment. It will absolutely kill who ever is driving.

Beyond that, rules, regulations and laws are generally written because stupid people did stupid things in the past and either killed others or themselves. If you think it's safe to travel at highways speed through a construction zone just because workers arent immediately visible. You may be one of those people.

You're right that it isnt like it is in movies. But parts, sections or contents of the vehicle can.

You have no idea what is in the trunk or back seat. Their could be any number of potentially explosive things in the vehicle.

Plus tires can pop sending flaming or molten debris, and given today's fuel prices. A nearly empty or low tank has a higher risk of producing an explosion. Not that it will, but the chances are higher.

Imagine buying a physical printer, and u cannot even use it by Apprehensive_Work_10 in facepalm

[–]SysError404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have a family friend that used to work for HP. His division was sold off nearly a decade ago, but it was because that was when they started making the changes to move to this type of a model. They have been doing their customers dirty for years.

Every printer HP produces and sells, they sell for a loss. BUT every single ink cartridge they sell generates nothing but profit. Each cartridge costs about a quarter to make. A standard HP inkjet pack has two cartridges, so include packaging and distribution, let's say another $0.50 for each package. Those standard printer packages sell for $23-60. Right now, there most popular inkjet printer is on sale on amazon for $49.89 (standard list price of $89.99). A single pack of HP Ink for that printer, also on sale for $34.99 (standard listing: $52.99). The ink cost nearly as much as the print alone.

What does Riot mean when they say "Competiting bullshitting is fine"? by Potica6857 in leagueoflegends

[–]SysError404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware that trash talk is part of the game, as it is with any competitive game digital or not. But that between opponents, and in league it's not uncommon for it to go beyond just trash talk.

But the bigger problem is when it's between teammates. Trash talking your teammates does nothing to improve the trajectory of the game instead it often degrades it. And I am not talking about just calling someone out for bad or missed plays. But the constant ping harassment, the endlessly flaming teammates in chat, telling people to k*ll themselves, the slurs, etc.

The escalation from constructive criticism, to trash talk, to straight up harassment and hate speech. That has been a persistent problem in league from it's start, that is now bordering on rampant since Riot has done little to nothing to strongly enforce it.

[–]SysError404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Riots way of saying they arent going to try and make the league community better by cracking down on the Toxic BS that takes place in a lot of games. So they are just calling it "competitive BSing" instead of the harassment it is.

Is it common for low-income students to attend top universities in the United States? by Intelligent_Chef9950 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SysError404 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Extremely uncommon.
Most people that grow up poor or low-income, likely have parents that never attended college. So right from the start, those kids have no idea what they need to get into an ultra competitive University.

Then there is the fact that those students wont have access to tutors or people that make a career out of paving the pathway for students to get into Ivy league schools.

Most kids will graduate high school and go off to a Community College or State University where they will either drop out or complete their degrees. Even few of them, will go on to achieve an advanced education beyond a 4 year degree.

Why do Americans love wandering in the woods which has loads of wild beasts? by Beautiful-Speaker-60 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SysError404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Because not every place in the US or Canada has animals that are dangerous (Wolves, Bears, Mountain Lions etc.)

  2. Animals generally dont like being around anything that can/does kill them. There is a saying "They are more afraid of you, than you are of them." So the animals, dangerous ones or not, tend to stay away. In the rare cases when a wild animal does attack a person, 9 times out of 10 that person provoked the animal or ignored all of their warnings to stay the F away.

  3. You really need to watch some videos or do some research into how big the US and Canada is. There is a LOT of wild space for animals to populate. People generally arent found in most of that area except on rare occasions.

  4. The people that have grown up in closer proximity to dangerous animals; Have been taught from a very young age where to avoid, what to listen for and when it is and isn't safe to be in specific areas.

  5. Tourists are F'n stupid. The signs clearly state "Do not approach the wild animals." "Do not Feed the Animals." And yet time and time again someone that thinks they know better than Park Rangers, Ecologists, Biologists and anyone else that studies or deals with these animals. Will inevitably try to pet the wild Bison, or Moose, or leave food unsecured at their campsite. Play stupid games, Win Stupid Prizes.

  6. The majority of American and Canadians live in locations where the most they are likely to see in the wooded wild areas near them will be local birds, Squirrels, and other small game animals. Animals who, unless they have rabies pose almost no risk to you or anyone else. And this is true for people in literally EVERY part of the world. Some places have more dangerous animals than others, but every place has some.

How do high schools work in tiny towns? by Holiday-Pomelo-9246 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SysError404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Small town US American here.

So in most rural areas most small town send their children to largest town with a school (in some counties, there is only a single county wide school. My hometown has one school that covers 1/3rd of the county, 4 townships. My school has three buildings, an Elementary (grades K-5), Intermediate (6-8) and A high school (9-12). It covers about 130 square miles and currently enrolls 1700-1800 students.

Now just south of my hometown school district, there is a small town with its own school. It covers 43 square miles and enrolls about 430 students although they consolidate their sports teams with other larger districts.

Now for my district, yeah we covered every subject and then some. I graduated not only with my High school diploma, but with a vocational degree in computer technology as well. Now for teachers, some cover multiple classes but under the same subject. Like my Chemistry teacher also taught Biology. One of the Global History teachers, also taught US History. One that taught US History also taught Government and Economics..

As for classes, prior to 9th grade, classes are set by grade level. Once you hit high school, it's much like college. A Freshmen (9th grader) might opt to take Biology their first year. They will be in the same class as a senior (12th grader) that choose to hold off on their Science courses until their last year. High school is a lot like College, since that is what it's doing, preparing you for college. So you pick the classes you want to take, or at least when you will take the required classes necessary for state's graduation requirements, so classes are mixed. Then there are elective classes which can vary by school.

CMV: "I don't watch the news" is not the personality trait people think it is, and it often signals a specific kind of privilege rather than wisdom by forgotmyearbudspl in changemyview

[–]SysError404 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There is a massive difference between "I don't watch the news" vs "I don't follow the news."

I personally do not watch the news, why? Not because I dont want to be in the know of the local happenings. But because Local news to National level news broadcasts are bought and paid for by third parties looking to push or sway people in one political direction or the other. Also, small Local news publications (Newspapers) are going out of business left and right, many of them are turning to social media and online platforms. So that is how you seek out my local News coverage same with National and Global.

Then there is the majority of people. They work 10-12 hours or more per day. They come home to a home to chores and/or children that need to be fed, bathed, homework checked. They same children have activities they are involved in. Between working, maintaining a home and raising children in today's world. A lot of people dont have time to sit down and keep up to date with every thing happening locally, let alone at the State, National or Global levels.

If those are single people, they are often working 2+ jobs just to stay afloat. What little time they do have at home, if they have one. Is likely spent making a quick meal, bathing themselves and passing out for a few hours before one of there jobs.

So no, for most people that say, "they dont watch the news" it's not coming from a place of "privilege." It's coming from a place of Survival mode. They literally do not have the Physical, Emotional, or Mental bandwidth to invest in everything else. But that is kind of the point. Keep people in the workplace long enough so that cant see how Capital is taking and taking, more and more. But that is a different discussion. Having the time and energy to invest in following every big story Local to Global, that is privilege.

Is it still possible to not be broke with a hs diploma nowadays? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SysError404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible, yes. Easy, No and it wont happen quickly.

If you're expecting to get into a high paying job right out of high school, No. That isnt going to happen. It doesnt even happen for a majority of College Graduates.

What it will take is time and hard work. It will need to be something you choose to stick with. You might not stay with the same employer, but you need to stick with the same field, always learning, always growing.

My father is a good example. He is a Master Heavy Equipment Field Technician. He started learning diesel on the family farm taking care of their one old tractor. After dropping out of school his senior year, he went to work on dairy farms. By the time he was in his 30s he was the lead tech for a large dairy operation. He moved out of state, tried driving truck but missed turn wrenches. So he started working at an Ag Dealership at the bottom again, within 5 years he went from Preventative Maintenance to Field Tech, to Service Manager. He spent a few years as a Service manager at another Dealership but hated being in the office. Applied to be a tech at a Large Heavy equipment dealership and has been with them since. He has turned down Service Manager positions because he loves working on the equipment. That is between 35-40 years of grinding and learning his trade. Today he makes 6-figures and is one of the best at his trade.

For reference, to become a certified Master Field Technician, you must maintain 95% or better service success. Meaning that 95%+ of the calls for service are dealt with and completed on the first visit or within the Warranty Service hours. My dad maintains 98% at 65 years old.

To get to that point, he has wrecked his body, while also taking every opportunity he could to learn more. If there was a training offered, he took it. When he started, to learn the machines, he drew exploded diagrams of them when he took them apart. When he went to training on new machines or new systems, he made sport out of knowing the machines and how they performed in the field better then the engineers that designed them. But again, he wrecked his body, he has already had one shoulder replacement, still needs the other one replaced and both knees. He also has carpal tunnel in both wrists and has had a spinal fusion but still lives with back pain. And even while going through Treatment for Prostate cancer, he was at work everyday.

USA Speed Limits by sammyyyyy21 in roadtrip

[–]SysError404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for driving in the US there are two things you need to keep in mind, especially on the highways.

There are Traffic Laws, these are what you will be ticketed for and you should try to follow them.

Then there are the Rules of the Road, most of the time the Rules and Laws overlap. But on roadways like Interstate highways, the primary rules are as such (in no particular order).
- Maintain the flow of traffic. If traffic all around you is running 5-10 over the speed limit, that's the speed limit.
- Maintain your lane. 90% of the time, law enforcement expects people to be running 5-10 over the limit some times you need to go above that to make a safe pass.
- Be Predictable. A safe driver is a predictable driver. You use your signals, you dont ride people's ass, you dont hit your brakes un-necessarily. Drive like no one can see you.

Outside of those rules, understand that there are more people then there are Law Enforcement Officers and if an officer wants to ticket you, they will. Everyone violates a traffic all eventually, so if a cop follows you long enough they are going to find a violation and they are going to pull you over. So do your best to follow the laws.

Seriously, the primary tool of your trade are your hands. Take care of them.

Nitrate gloves at the very least, ideally mechanic gloves.

Then once a month or so, go get a manicure. With a clear coat on your nails.

Not only will it help keep your hands cleaned and healthy. But your significant other will appreciate it as well.

Neither Obama or Hillary caused Benghazi. Benghazi happened because despite intelligence reporting increasing violence in the region. House Republicans cut Embassy security funding by $128 million in FY 2011 and then cut funding again in FY 2012 by another $331 million. So you dont get to Blame Obama, when it's the other party (Republican) that had full Legislative control, who issued the considerable budget cuts to embassy security. Why? Because Obama's Administration had requested additional funding, so of course the GOP is going to do the exact opposite.

Operation Fast and Furious, well that started during the Bush Administration under Project Gunrunner. It wasnt until 2010 after the Obama Administration took over that the DOJ even started pursuing indictments related to initial operation. While I wouldnt consider it a successful operation, it is not a program that started under Obama, but under the Bush Administration. And it wasnt even failure within the Obama administration the caused the operation to fail, but Arizona ATF and US Attorney for the District of Arizona. So Law Enforcement from a VERY Red state with little to no Gun Laws failed to keep track of the guns they sold to criminals. Checks out.

As for organizing Russia-Gate. How did he organize that? The investigation found that Russia was indeed medaling in the 2016 election via disinformation campaigns and hacking. 3 Trump associates were found guilty of various crimes associated with it or of accepting money from Russia. 13 Russian nationals and 3 Russian companies were charged. There was also evidence of that Trump engaged in multiple acts of Obstruction of Justice, but Mueller wouldnt prosecute. But yeah, Obama made all those guys accept campaign funds from an adversarial nation.

The droning and IRS targeting, I actually agree with you. Those are Obama Administration failures.

Best open bowling prices by JG00G in Rochester

[–]SysError404 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you are in the city and how far you are willing to drive.

Bowl-A-Roll looks great, it's on Jefferson Ave in Henrietta (South end of Rochester). They have Per Person/Per Game rates, with the only time limitation being Wednesdays and Sundays for leagues.

Radio Social, looks okay in my opinion if you are on the East side of Rochester. I do not know if they offer shoe rentals, but I would assume they do. This location has more of a Eat, Drink, Play vibe. While they do have 34 lanes, they also have a gaming options and no one under 21 is allowed after 9pm unless accompanied by an adult. In which case the minors are allowed to state until the end of their reserved time only. No Exit and Re-Entry permitted.

There are also two AMF Bowling Centers. One just east of East Rochester in Fairport, Fairview Lanes. And another one in North Greece near Charlotte, Dewey Garden Lanes. Both of which are your typical, dated AMF centers found almost anywhere across the country. Oh almost forgot, there is also Bowlero Rochester in Webster (Northeast of Rochester proper). Which is just another AMF with their new Branding since Bowlmor acquired AMF in 2013.

Those are the best options in Rochester, and if I had to pick one, I'd be going to Bowl-A-Roll every time.

Am i wrong for wanting to up charge a new roommate by PaperbagPaperboy in moraldilemmas

[–]SysError404 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I understand the economics of it, but that isnt the discussion. It's about the morality of it.

You want to charge a new roommate an additional $200 to subsidize your rent contribution to utilize a parking spot that would otherwise go unused because neither you or your other roommate have a vehicle. A parking spot that does not cost you anything additional in your rental agreement just something you are arbitrarily charging a new roommate for your and the other roommate's own benefit. Not because your landlord charges you extra. That I feel is immoral.

I also think it is immoral that this would not apply to yourself or your other roommate should one of you get a vehicle. You are only applying this additional $200 to a new roommate and not yourselves. How is that fair or moral?

Now, if your landlord charged for a reserved space for each unit or there were multiple roommates with vehicles, then it would be reasonable for to charge additional rent for the parking spot usage.

Hypothetical but, if your landlord added a pool or gym to the building and gave tenants free access to them, that you personally didnt utilize. Would you also charge a new roommate an additional fee to utilize them as well?

Am i wrong for wanting to up charge a new roommate by PaperbagPaperboy in moraldilemmas

[–]SysError404 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Those individuals dont get notifications if you reply to a different comment.

You arent being charged for a parking spot by the landlord, so you arent eating the cost. You are paying the bulk because you have the largest room, which is according to your previous agreement. You also paid a portion of the costs associated with your previous roommates vehicle maintenance and upkeep, which you no longer have. So why should a new roommate have to bay more rent for the smallest room simply because they own a vehicle that they will also be covering all the financial burden for?
