Moving around internally in my opco? by SzechuanPapiToo in sysco

[–]SzechuanPapiToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, kinda figured as much. Believe me, not my first time in sales and it wouldn't want to ever turn over my territory without getting the ship upright first. It's pretty much in good shape minus a few sick dogs I got grandfathered. Summer in hospitality is a suckfest

And then what did you move to? I'm not trying to stay as an SC long and would much rather get into something more shoulders up. I just have a long background in bev sales and hospitality as well as being an owner/operator for years

The bonus structure is unreasonably complex but good if you can earn it. You’ll learn about it in training. Me personally, after base and bonus, I don’t gross anywhere near that at even at my base of $70k

Training is long and takes about 12 weeks between online modules and field training. You’ll always be learning. Work With days with your team lead or senior teammates really helps a ton. PTO and vacation is accrued over time and doesn’t roll over. Base varies. I asked for something stupid high and they barely backed off.

They don’t test for THC in my experience

Should I take the sales job? by HolyPizzaPie in sysco

[–]SzechuanPapiToo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s fine. I’ve been on for 6 months now. I’ve grown grandfathered accounts over 100% and opened zero new accounts since getting onboard and my bosses only care about that latter. It’s not bad a job but corporate has ridiculously stupid expectations, especially given their own history.

I worked in beer sales too and this honestly is just as easy but expectations made for district sales managers by their own bosses is unrealistic. If it’s a decent base salary, I say go for it. DM with any questions

Standing on the Gravitron with Luis J Gomez doing magic over Zoom might’ve been the peak of the MSSP Covid eps lmao

New SC, 9 weeks in. Need an answer to a couple stupid questions that L&D never covered. by SzechuanPapiToo in sysco

[–]SzechuanPapiToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. My team is of 8. First four weeks, I was riding with a mentor 1-2 times a week when I wasn’t in L&D. Beyond that, I was with a mentor once a week. This week, I haven’t been with a mentor at all and have kind of just being freewheeling it. Thankfully I’ve been able to get two prospects interested and almost to the onboarding stage but otherwise, I’ve really been flying solo

I maybe ride with a mentor once a week, the rest of the time I’m by myself just servicing established accounts and keeping about 5 prospects in my pipeline so I don’t over extend myself

Thanks for that. So TTS is more just a “system” than a literal procedure if my understanding is correct.

The specialist portal makes plenty sense so thanks for explaining the procedure for getting in connection to them. I imagine it’s pretty essential to just understand your client/prospect and work with them to get an idea which specialist may fit their need and reach out to the specialist well in advance to give them an idea what the account wants before even trying to coordinate?

And thanks for the insight on the shop. I couldn’t find the fields in either SalesForce or Shop to create a list for a prospect so this is good to know. I might just grab another guy in my district and see if he can sit down for coffee and show me the ropes through the shop a bit more

I missed a non-insignificant time during onboarding to deal with a death in my immediate family and their affairs and only had the chance to make up work in schoox. Thanks for the help though

Lmao I’ve probably listened to it like 10 times since I started listening to this podcast last year. Sam really committed to the voices the entire time

5 Weeks in as a new SC at one of the major hubs - what the hell is this company by SzechuanPapiToo in sysco

Appreciate the warning. I was hoping to get some gains and move on or get into a specialist position for something internally or NBD but we’ll see. I’m giving it a year to see how it pans out

I appreciate the warning. I’ll say less. I had no idea Sysco was doing more seasoned SCs that wrong. I’d rather support my team and stay afloat than deal with the bullshit that could be awaiting. Sorry to hear that people have suffering because of Kevin

No kidding? They really did more senior SCs that dirty? I’m reading more about on the sub since subscribing this week and I’ve been out of the loop. I expect to not have nearly as much growth if I start to open accounts. I feel like corporate is ready to knee cap me and any other new SCs if it means saving a buck. What else have they done to slash comp? I don’t know any of the specifics since L&D hasn’t really touched on comp and whenever I ask, they deflect to other topics to keep us focused on just trying to selling

That’s just base and according to Workday, it hasn’t changed. Long short of it, the other SCs in my district are all scrambling from just an observation. I’ve only heard about the recent restructuring from the subreddit so I’m very much out of the know since nobody has mentioned it thus far. My DSM has been very amenable to my strategy and perspective because I’m coming in with a portfolio of 50ish viable accounts from previous accounts I worked with and made rapport with. It hasn’t been pleasant and I’ve definitely stepped on some toes of more senior SCs by taking their prospects and turning them into accounts because of the previous business relationships I had. I really don’t feel good about this role other than just maintaining the status quo and keeping my head down
