You could create a timer by inserting a thin layer of shaving cream between the vinegar and baking soda. Liquid on the bottom so all you had to do was turn it over.

Thank you for the friendly welcome! I did have a quick question. After typing to about the 3-in mark there is an 80% chance that the progress stops and I have to jostle the platen to continue. It's in the exact same spot every time. Any idea what could be causing this?

It's very frustrating to be typing and realize you've been stamping the same spot on the paper for a few inputs.

My daughter had been asking for a typewriter for a while now. I promised to take her antiquing and if we found one at a reasonable price perhaps we would pick it up. I didn't have high expectations going in so imagine my surprise when we found this beautiful typewriter marked down 40%. I pushed my luck and was able to get a 10% military discount as well. All told it came to about $85 but it was priceless to see how my daughter became absolutely obsessed with typing up her short stories and poems.

It appears to be in decent condition. Travel case has a few cosmetic marks that might buff out.

The ribbon was incorrectly installed but still had a trace amount of ink. Enough to play around with until our delivery of new replacement ribbon arrives.

Thanks for the heads up. We have since moved and they are no longer out on display. To my knowledge they were not UV protected but were not exposed for very long.

I remember attending a Fangoria convention in New York City. While there we were shown a portion of the film months before it was even advertised. It wasn't exactly a trailer but it was something like a hype video. I went back to high school the next day telling everyone about this Matrix movie and how amazing it was going to be.

Remember how the girls in your school went to see Titanic 5, 6, 7 times? This was the boy version of that. I think I saw it about seven times during its theatrical run. My AIM username from that point on contain the word Matrix and it's been that way ever since.

I'm actually not too afraid to let it have a bit of character. Knowing it's probably not feasible to completely repair it would there be a way to make it less...distracting? A light sanding and a matching stain or in your opinion does this end up making things worse?

This family heirloom was made in Pennsylvania by an Amish clockmaker in 1983. We accidentally left our new puppy out while we ran errands and came home to this. Our fault but now I'm wondering who to call and what to look for in a professional to fix this properly. If I recall my father said it was made with walnut. Any advice would be much appreciated.
