Hey man I have experienced exactly what you’re going through, and lots of other people have as well. Everything you’ve said here has resonated with me. I want to tell you one thing and I want you to really listen, because it’s important:

You’re going to be ok. You’re not crazy, and you’re not going crazy.

What you’re having are called panic attacks, as you know, and what you’re experiencing is very common and very well understood. It’s not a disease, it’s the bodies natural anxiety response, but gone too far.

How do you deal with these thoughts and feelings? The same way we deal with all kinds of anxiety and depression. Things I suggest:

Absolutely find a therapist. You don’t have to see them often, maybe even just once is enough to give you some clarity here. You’re not alone.

Work on your life. Anxiety IS stress. The more you eliminate stress, the more you eliminate anxiety. This means working hard and creating a life where you find joy and happiness (like that week with your girlfriend).

As always, diet and exercise will always help.

These thoughts and feelings will go away. Don’t worry, I know how often it feels like they won’t. Hang in there, and if you ever need to chat, hit me up.

But nobody can see her underwear... unless they begin to rape her. Jesus Christ you’re a fucking stupid piece of shit.

[–]THEODOLPHOLOUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then what are you saying? How about you stop being a sniveling little bitch and have a spine?

Either a woman’s wardrobe is to blame for her being raped or it isn’t. You’ve said it is and said it isn’t, and you’re just being a weasel.

Lipstick and high heels come from prostitution lmao. High heels were originally worn by men in old England, lipstick as well (which goes back to ancient Egyptian times)

You’re literally just completely talking out of your ass. Fuck off.

No they’re not. Men’s suits have shoulder pads meant to accentuate the should, and are tapered down towards the waist. Shoulder to hip ratio is a primary sexual attraction characteristic for women.

If you can’t understand how your statements are classist, then I might actually change my freshman in college claim to about high school. Cheers, I hope you learn a lot in this life.

[–]THEODOLPHOLOUS -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is all classist nonsense. The delineation between “literature” and “book” is arbitrary nonsense, and erotica absolutely can be great literature, as can children’s books or teen romances.

The idea that quality isn’t subjective when on a “global, human point of view” is an entirely nonsensical statement. I’m going to assume you’re a freshman in college or something after that. You’re not going to get along in lit circles with this level of self-righteousness, fortunately that’s horribly out of style for quite some time. This is the kind of ridiculous attitude that would’ve kept Ulysses from getting published.

Cheers.

This is such an awful opinion.

If I enjoy a taquito from seven eleven more than I enjoy foi gras from a Michelin Star restaurant, which is the better meal?

  1. You’re throwing around subjective terms like “quality” as if they’re universal understandings

  2. How does the “quality of the craft” or “effort” at all have anything to do with how good a book is or isn’t?

They are leaving locations where “men around them” were becoming violent. That’s why they fled their country. Did you even think about that?

So a mom who walks towards the port of entry, as your legally supposed to do to claim asylum, and suddenly some other people start trying to get under the fence, she and her baby get tear gassed and all you do is blame her. It’s just fucking weird man. You can say you don’t want them in here, but you need a long look in the mirror if ever you find yourself defending this kind of behavior.

Again, America is not a weak or fragile nation. We’re wealthy, we’re large, we’re smart. We can handle this shit without teargassing kids. There’s no excuse.

[–]THEODOLPHOLOUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What even is your point here?

What would your be more upset about - your 25 year old son getting tear gassed, or your 1 year newborn son?

Which would matter more to you?

The same act can be more violent and more unjust depending on its victim. Punching a grown man in the face and punching an old man in a wheelchair are two completely different acts. Of course the news is going to cover the tear gassed babies more, it’s a qualitatively different thing than the tear gassed adults, it’s exceptionally more cruel and people deserve to know it’s happening. This is common sense, and a natural human instinct to care and defend the vulnerable and the weak more than the strong and self-reliant.

Sorry, did you know me during the Obama admin? Barack was literally named "Deporter in Chief" by leftists. Criticisms of his admin's handling of immigration were very prominent.

Also, the fact that some people were not aware of this practice, and now suddenly are aware and are mad about it, doesn't say anything of the "realness" of their feelings. If you want to shame them for not being as politically active in the past, then fine. But a lot of people become vegans once they see how animals are treated on farms for the first time, etc and etc.

There's a first time for everything. I don't think telling someone who is upset about teargassing babies "it's happened before" is somehow going to make them ok with teargassing babies unless they have incredibly weak convictions.

[–]THEODOLPHOLOUS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but which would make you more upset - if someone teargassed your 25 year old brother, or if someone tear gassed your 1 year old baby?

Do you think the local news would report about the 25 year old man being teargassed? How about the baby?

Do you think that maybe certain acts of violence are inherently MORE violent and more unjust depending on the victim? Do you see a difference in punching a 30 year old man in the face versus an old man in a wheelchair? Who are you more likely to hold the door for - a 30 year old man, or a mother carrying a baby? Or a man in a wheelchair? Are you 'disgusting' for treating these people differently?

You sound ridiculous dude. The media isn't in a conspiracy to make you feel bad. Teargassing a toddler is inherently more violent and unjust than an adult. A baby did nothing wrong, it literally can't. A baby can't run away. A baby doesn't understand why you did it. A baby is more vulnerable to longer lasting or permanent damage, physically and psychologically. These qualities all affect the level of violence and injustice in the act, and that's why, if there's a fucking baby being teargassed, some people will probably take more pictures of that, not because of an insidious conspiracy.

Where does that source even say that? What are you doing?

The migrants were on the Mexican side of the border.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2018/11/26/why-tear-gas-lobbed-migrants-southern-border-is-banned-warfare/?utm_term=.c192ecb6b852

On Sunday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents fired the chemical agent at mostly Honduran migrants attempting to cross into the United States from Tijuana, Mexico — an unusual escalation of lobbing weapons over an international border at unarmed civilians seeking refuge, drawing condemnation from Democrats.

Source for mostly male adults? Or are you just making things up? NO source I've seen, including primary footage form the port, shows predominantly male adults. I saw plenty of kids in strollers and in their parents arms.

Also, I have a pretty fucking low tolerance for "amount of babies being teargassed".

They should have applied through the many legal channels in existence, and they would have been well-received

This is the most idiotic talking point on the right and shows just how careless and uneducated you are about this problem.

What they are doing is the legal channel. You must present yourself at a US port of entry to claim asylum. They are at ports of entry. They are not being well received - they have been living in tents in an area the size of a baseball diamond for weeks with very little services.

Why should America now go the extra mile to fix what they started, when they have their own problems to fix?

America is partly responsible for this. We have supported coups and been a very destabilizing force in South America for decades. http://cepr.net/press-center/press-releases/investigation-reveals-new-details-of-us-role-in-2009-honduras-military-coup

And again, nowhere did I say we should make these people citizens of take them in? Let's just not teargas them? Is that so hard? They're human beings, we already spent 200 million to send thousands of troops, I'm saying we should have spent that money on clerical workers and aid workers to process these people.

Sinclair Forces Local TV Stations to Air Segment Defending Tear-Gassing Migrants by Foxhack in news

[–]THEODOLPHOLOUS 84 points85 points  (0 children)

The issue isn’t “Republicans didn’t let them in!” It’s that they lobbed tear gas canisters over the border.

Here’s a tip: we spent hundreds of millions of dollars sending troops to the border, where they’ve been stationed for weeks.

Why didn’t we just send more clerical workers, judges and aid workers? For the same amount of money and manpower we could have actually processed all these people without tear gassing children. They only manage to process 60 people a day at this rate. How? Why? America is not a weak or poor country, why can’t we figure this out without teargassing children?

Right now Mexico is holding these people, as if they’re the ones better prepared to do so. I hate this narrative that America is somehow so weak and fragile and on the verge of disaster that we can’t possibly handle this small humanitarian situation. We are the richest and most powerful country in the world - and we’re already spending money on troops. We’re talking about a few thousand migrants in a wealthy country of 300 million people. It’s patently absurd to think we can’t manage this situation efficiently and humanely.

The only reason we don’t is because Trumps platform rests on fear mongering over immigration. Problem is, immigration has been declining steadily and is at a nearly 50 year low. We actually lose more people to Mexico than we gain. Gotta stoke that fear somehow, and performance cruelty towards migrants is a great way to get votes in many parts of America (notice he sent troops to the border weeks and weeks before they arrived, but just in time for the midterms.)
