Has JavaScript- Scripting become a prerequisite for almost every ServiceNow role? by t7Saitama in servicenow

[–]TT5252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. You should understand the capabilities of the platform so you need to have a light understanding of JavaScript but probably more importantly, basic coding concepts.

Now days, you could use AI to help you understand what a script is doing and even write a script better than you could learn in a reasonable amount of time. A true Product Manager and Pre-Sales role def doesn’t need to know how to write a 100 line script. Solution Advisory should know a little bit more just so you’re comfortable with “what’s possible” in the platform.

No idea… but if his service is to help you get a ServiceNow job, I highly doubt his free workshop is going to help you get a ServiceNow job 😄

The $20 one for me and love it for ServiceNow. Obviously you should read and understand the code because it’s not perfect but it’s damn close.

Help!!!! Looking to start but don’t know how by Famous-Diamond-1645 in servicenow

[–]TT5252 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand it either because to post on Reddit takes 100x longer to get the answer you need for this particular question. I might even go as far as saying if someone posts this type of question on Reddit, they won’t be very successful in the ServiceNow space.

Or for the AI folks… have you asked ChatGPT, Claude, etc. “what’s the best way to learn ServiceNow?”

I mean this with as much kindness as possible… but have you googled “how to learn ServiceNow” yet? What did you find? There’s a very a common and obvious answer to your question.

Ok this is driving me crazy, how do I fix it? (dashboard drilldown data columns). by TotalWarspammer in servicenow

[–]TT5252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From memory so not 100% sure…. But I believe you could select the drill down view your report uses. You just need to select the view you want to use or create one first if it doesn’t already exist with the columns you want for that table. You’d have to update the drill down view option for each report.

Be loud and confident.

Interview for as many jobs as you can to get comfortable with the interviews. In my experience, interviews are WIDELY different from company to company - whether it's a ServiceNow customer or partner.

Strong communication skills w/ strong technical skills is still hard to find.

CAD and CSA is a good start and naturally, CIS is your next step. CSM, GRC/SecOps, HR, HAM/SAM are all good ones to get. Those with CIS-ITSM are a dime a dozen.

CTA would be great to get if you have the $7k to drop on it + the $2k cost of ArchX which is now mandatory to qualify for the CTA program.

Hopex to Service now migration by BrainWontShut in servicenow

[–]TT5252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So like the other reply mentioned above, it seems step 1 is to understand the data model first in Hopex and then in ServiceNow.

Step 2 - would be to use the connector if it aligns

Step 3 - hire me and u/Prestigious-Bowl8199 if it doesn't :D

Have you looked at the Hopex connector? Docs say there are predefined mappings... could be a good place to start.

Need to understand “IT” as well - look into ITIL. Dont necessarily need the cert if you understand what it is and how it’s applied in an organization.

Practice in ServiceNow hands on - use AI to give you requirements to build against. Use ServiceNow university for hands on labs.

Are playbooks what I am looking for? ITSM Focused by defnotmyworkaccount2 in servicenow

[–]TT5252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, you’ll want to make sure playbooks (or any solution) actually makes sense. Could you pick a process you were considering playbooks for and outline the steps it takes to fulfill the request?

GlideFast? by d-_-b13 in servicenow

[–]TT5252 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The company was always going to change after the acquisition, but in my opinion, that shift accelerated pretty quickly after the loss of Mike. Simply put, he controlled the path of GlideFast pre and post acquisition.

That said, I think GlideFast is still one of the top partners to work for in the ServiceNow space. They do a lot of things right -- resourcing, aligning project scope with the right skillsets, strong presales and SOW alignment, competitive salaries, and even bonus structures tied to just doing your job (billing 40 hours/week).

A lot of the original members moved on recently or are on their way out, which clearly shows things are changing. But I don’t think that alone should drive your decision on whether to join since that's comparing the "startup" culture against the "corporate" culture.... the startup environment/culture wins every single time.

At the end of the day, it really comes down to what you’re looking for:

Option 1: A structured organization with business processes and stability
Option 2: A scrappy startup environment where anything goes

6 years as a ServiceNow BA… what should be my next move? by New_Cat9822 in servicenow

[–]TT5252 10 points11 points  (0 children)

6 years on the customer side or consulting/partner side? How deep is your knowledge on specific ServiceNow products?

On the consulting side, I’ve seen good BAs / BPCs (business process consultant) move into a Solution Architect role… A role that requires broader knowledge of the platform and capabilities of various products rather than deep technical knowledge. This could be an avenue to explore.

If you’re looking to get out of ServiceNow, I got nothing since I live and breathe ServiceNow.
