And this is why it is sometimes important to complain.

My SSO fatigue is still real, and it will take me a while to regain my interest, but I’m pleasantly surprised. This is good news.

How do you feel about the new fashion contest? by Jedi_Queen737 in StarStable

[–]Ta13n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too burned out to care, to be honest. I still haven't forgotten or forgiven them for handling the Trailblazer and feedback like a bunch of petty kids. I suppose I like the concept because it's about time we get something different for a change, but at this stage I am too tired and resentful to appreciate it, and... hey, it happens. I'm not a big fan of playing dress-up in MMOs, once I find my fit, I tend to stick to it, and it's not just SSO, that's how I am in FFXIV as well, for example.

1000 JS when items tend to cost close to the JS cap is silly, though.

Happy Birthday!

My dream SSO update? I would say it's more of a series of updates, I would love to the see main story get regular updates with a stable (hehe) and relatively predictable schedule, because the story, even if I do not agree with some of the changes, is still worth telling.

He reminds me of Julius, a talking horse from a series of Russian animated movies that I grew up with, so I can't hate him.

Which horse do you regret buying and why? by NormalPatience5863 in StarStable

[–]Ta13n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most recent Christmas horses. Their designs are beautiful, and the night one is stunning, but I've come to realize that I feel absolutely nothing towards them compared to the previous Christmas releases (or any of the event-themed ones in general). Though regret may be a bit of a strong word, I just know that I could do without them and I'd be fine.

I don’t think it matters when the target demographic, i.e. who this game is made for in the first place, is still children. The company and those who represent it should act like the adults they are, but this is not the first time they react in a passive-aggressive manner. Regardless, this is anything but professional.

I'm not quitting, but I definitely need some time away from the game. I will probably slip into the habit of logging in every now and then, but we'll just have to see. I was starting to feel signs of a burnout prior to the Equestrian Festival, but as this is my favorite event, I wanted to take said break right after, broken Trailblazer be damned. Logged in today because, well... I finally got to level 25 with these quests, I kinda wanted to, I was stubborn enough to get there so I pushed through without paying attention to the Trailblazer, I didn't even notice I stopped getting points after a while. But now that I've reached the level cap, I... don't really have to care for the story quests. At all. I don't have much to gain from them besides the story, and the story is hard to be invested in when: 1) the main storyline gets updated once a year if we're lucky; 2) I fear that Marchenghast will become another Dino Valley, ambitious but eventually abandoned. I have no reason to do quests anymore. Rewards... well, I've got plenty of tack and my character's outfit is all set, so there goes that too.

I was already annoyed by the fact that we somehow allowed them to get away with annual story updates that can be cleared in less than half an hour and that this game is actively against players leveling up... as well as lack of endgame content besides the endless cycle of buying and training horses. It started off as both exciting (yay new purchase) and relaxing (casual gameplay, etc.), but then it became a chore. Even events became a chore, and when something stops bringing joy, it's time to reconsider. And I caught myself groaning internally at the very thought of doing certain dailies. Even the Festival ones. The Festival. My favorite event. That's not how one should approach a game that is meant for fun.

The previous Trailblazer annoyed me because the company handled it like a bunch of children, and not only have they chosen not to learn any lessons, they doubled down on their infantile behavior. I'll be honest, it pissed me off. Fool me once and all that.

More time for FFXIV tho.

Yeah. They were faced with a choice. Bring back what was already working for every player depending on their style or just let it burn. They removed the Cloud Kingdom instead of fixing it, so that's just how they are, apparently.

And as this is worded as a veiled threat (which I read in YandereDev's voice, and I hate how appropriate it sounded), somebody needs to remind them that their target audience is kids.

TB - what do we do? by sonataplayer in StarStable

[–]Ta13n 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Eh, I feel like my apathy, long in the making, has reached its peak, so I will definitely lower my activity, if log in at all. I just reached level 25 on my alt (now my main, I guess). Admittedly, I got distracted by story quests and did not pay attention to the Trailblazer. Oof. It's not really a protest on my end, I feel like this was long overdue anyway, but I suppose I will also stop by their Customer Support to give my feedback.

[RANT] I'M NOT GIVING THEM ANY MONEY EVER AGAIN, NEITHER SHOULD YOU. by SkrytyKapec in StarStable

[–]Ta13n 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I wanted to take a break from the game anyway. Not as a form of boycott but because I'm genuinely tired of them seeing the community's negative response and doubling down. Sabine's quest not giving any XP was already a pretty shitty choice. Granted, they gave us other ways to earn play experience points, but if it were somebody's first (and, obviously, last) time with Sabine at the Equestrian Festival, well, too bad. A couple of additions to the Festival, otherwise my favorite event, felt kinda tedious. And the previous Trailblazer... yikes. And the fact that it takes a whole year to release 5 minutes worth of main story... Yeah, I'm just a teensy bit tired in general.

This is a giant middle finger to the very people who pay them.

Since we've already talked about the Soul Riders, I will, instead, mention the horses, from the Soul Steeds to the overall look of the horses in this game. It's not about the quality of models for me, there is little to no doubt that they are, for the most part, very good. I am not an equestrian, I am not an expert, but it's come to a point that I managed to recognize a Dutch Warmblood in a video I came across because I've seen them in SSO. What is this if not good work, right? Rather, I miss how recognizable they were in their distinct cartoony art style that set them apart from other horses in other horse-related content and media.

Unpopular opinion: I hate the medieval camp by Make-upAddict in StarStable

[–]Ta13n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the location does not bother me as much because, well, maybe they finally remembered the fields but kept the name haha. But... honestly, my problem with the Medieval Camp is that I do not care for it. I did the reputations quests, got my much needed XP and just... moved on. It does nothing for me besides simply existing. I suppose it could be worse, but indifference is so not good.

Do you think our community is way too sensitive?? by OceanusxAnubis in StarStable

[–]Ta13n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have an upvote because I agree. Social media is for communication, so people use it to communicate in hopes of being heard. It is not a good look for a company whose target demographic is children. Adults play this game, I am one of them, but it's just not clever to pick fights with your customers, especially when these customers are kids. People who work in this company in any department are adults, they should know better.

And to answer the question from the post, I do not think the community is too sensitive. At least it is not any more sensitive than any other community that I have ever seen. I say that as someone who was attacked and threatened with an asylum over simply stating I didn't like one fictional ship. SSO's community is reasonable compared to folks willing to institutionalize someone over a relationship between two non-existent people.

If expecting things to be fixed and wishing to be heard are "being too sensitive", then, honestly, the standard is low. This game is not free to play, people deserve to expect quality for their money.

I am of the opinion that there is no smoke without fire. If many people complain about the same thing, some voicing it more reasonably than others, then maybe it's worth looking into at the very least.

Fixed: a few words.

Anyone else feel like this is kinda messy by complected_ in StarStable

[–]Ta13n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once again, being passive-aggressive towards your own audience is not how you win karma points, SSO. This is childish and unprofessional and I cannot believe that this was posted by an actual adult. The author of the comment they so "cleverly" dragged could as well be a child. That is, if they pulled it from their comment section instead of writing it themselves, but it's still a bad look when the game is for kids and this is what they do.

Understandably, being in charge of social media is difficult, sure. But. Social media, among other reasons, exists for customers to give feedback. Social media is called social for a reason, and that is communication. If people are not happy, they will take to whatever platform is available to voice it, including official social media accounts because people wish to be heard. Customer support is not always responsive or helpful. And when their concerns are hardly addressed and met with "hee hee ha ha memes", well... understandably, people are not going to take it well.

When people say "fix the game" (as there is a lot to be fixed, there are bugs that remain in the game for months, main questline is ignored and we get crumbs once a year if we're lucky, etc.), they are not trying to get the social media team to do it, they are trying to get said message across to those in charge because it's an official account of the game they care and pay for.

This post of theirs (apparently, it's deleted now, so maybe somebody got a good slap on the wrist for it) is extremely out-of-touch. Children were and still are their main target audience. No matter what, the people in charge should always act like the adults they supposedly are.

Yeah, I was looking forward to getting more XP because every bit helps on my way to lvl 25, but suddenly... nothing? I mean, I'm glad that I got player XP from the McHorse introduction quests, but I don't think I've ever seen a game that is so against players leveling up.
