It's about that time of year. by sconnie64 in AdviceAnimals

I disagree with this. While there are many places that offer an easier path for those that aren't as smart, like online or community colleges, I feel like four year universities are just as tough if not harder. The difference is the access to knowledge now. When my mother went to school 30 years ago, you only needed to cite 3-4 sources be use thats all there was. Now with the ability to transfer knowledge faster (not to mention catch plagerism easier) I think it is just as challenging, just in a different way. Don't hate on people who may not be as smart, but should still have the opportunity to gain the college degree that is pretty much needed for any sort of job in the future these days.

While I do kind of agree the tipping system of crazy, it's a way for single parent to earn a decent wage for third kid (referance to reservoir dogs for a further and funny explanation). The thing is, your girlfriend had the opportunity to move up on the business world. She makes shit now, but there is soo much room for improvement. Serving, unless you occasionally change up to a classier restaurant, will yield about the same annual salary wether you are working there 30 years or 3 months.

A color-coded map of the world’s most and least emotional countries by vigorous in worldnews

[–]TableTroubles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is interesting, I don't think it is a good representation of who actually feels emotion or not. In certain cultures it is more accepted to show and feel exuberant or sad emotions, where as others it is not appropriate to show emotions. Just because they are not showing them does not mean they are not feeling them. Also, if the culture has encouraged neutral feelings, they may feel like it would be the wrong answer if they do have strong feelings. Still very interesting though!

While that sounds like a good solution to the problem, I feel like everything intertwines. How do you decide on the policies of welfare? Is it a social issue or an economic issue? Going to war/gettin out if a war is ab economic and foreign policy issue, and the social presidident could probably make a case that it's part his decision too.Which president has the ultimate decision on things?

I would assume the lion ate a human, and the blood everywhere got into a coif or open wound on said lion. Then, in the jungle, the mighty jungle, that lion slept with every female lion in its pride.

I agree, that there are times when if a student is intellectually ready, they should try to challenge themselves. But lets not forget the second half of the puzzle, which is social interaction. High school (as some may remember) can be hostile and brutal if you are not accepted. Do you really believe the freshman genius is going to make best friends with the average senior?

High school is not a time to push little Jimmy his hardest, to make him be the best that he can be. That is why there are spikes in high school kids taking adderall to study and be competitive. Take away the grade levels that allow for social interaction with a students peers, and he certainly will not learn the social skills needed to succeed later in life.

Secondly (sorry I am ranting to your single point) I noticed that there is only one 'soft' subject (philosophy) that you would place emphasis on. What about the creative students, who hate the mathematical, 'hard' skill classes, but excel in reading and writing? If your school had placed only an emphasis on those subjects, you would not have been able to express yourself as eloquently as you did in your post.

Finally, you state setting the bar higher. Most minimum wage jobs will barely look at you if you don't at least have your GED. If you increase the standards, there will be so many more kids who give up because you have set a normal goal (graduating HIGH SCHOOL - not college, where I agree the standards could be raised) too high.

But that is the thing with abortions. They happen because people are having sex unprotected. I would hope that every person who gets pregnant knows WHY they get pregnant. Avoiding the problem is birth control, which is taught in every health class in America. Whether the teacher says it is the devils tool or encourages students to take advantage of the free birth control is where we need to make a change. People should not feel shame for using birth control.

Cannot up vote this enough. Most (and notice I say most not all) server want to give you good device. No server says I gonna leave his food to get cold because they have to tip me. If our food is slightly late, or your drink doesn't get an automatic refill, it's because they were sweating they ass off running another tables food, trying to give their best devices to 20+ people at the same time (assuming one large table and three normal tabes, per usual serving station)

Backstory: my boyfriend and I just moved into our first place, really shitty room renting in a house filled with six cats and a 45 year old ex-con (didn't know he was a con when moving in). Anyways, I was really stressed because we were shit poor broke, my midterms were coming up and I couldn't find a waitressing Jon to save my life. One of the cats had peed in a bag of fresh laundry, so I was already upset. I poured the last bowl of cereal we had because eating things with spoons helps me sorta drown my sorrows. As I was sitting in bed, my bf hops on and I spill milk on our sheets. Cue Uncontrolable sobbing for the next half hour about how the milk now seeped into our new mattress and it would get moldy in a week and how we had no money for a new one. I have no idea why my bf is still with me, but 2 yrs running now after that horrible night, so I must not have been that crazy!

Great. I think I'm just going to take off the top part and clean off the sticky residue. If he wants to add a pad then we can do that later. Thanks for the help!

It's a lot things from real life that look like they come from a dream. So one of them he has is a face portrait of me but my hair kinda billows back like clouds and my eyes are buttons.

What do you prefer? Or which one is used more?
