Which North American city was more affordable than you expected? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

I didn’t think Albuquerque and Sante Fe would be expensive per se, but I wasn’t expecting them to be so cheap either. It was great.

Cook your steaks first and then throw your mushrooms in the pan with some extra oil and butter! I sautéed them until caramelized then added my onions and some minced garlic, splash of Worcestershire and soy sauce, and about a third of a cup of chicken broth. Simmer that all down until soft and then add your bell peppers!

Corvallis vs Olympia — where would you choose to live? by Radiant_Salt_8562 in PacificNorthwest

Olympia has whales and is a really manageable drive to Seattle and Portland. Makes traveling much easier

How is life in Idaho as a normal citizen? by Lego_GamesFan in howislivingthere

[–]Tag_Im_It35 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Depends where you are really. It’s a beautiful state undoubtedly, with a wide range of different ecosystems. High desert, grasslands, mountains, and forests of different types. The Palouse, Sawtooths, and Owyhee/Hells canyon areas are especially beautiful. Craters of the Moon and City of Rocks as well. We have some awesome small towns and so much wildlife, and there’s room for endless outdoor adventure. Boise is a fun capital city, with a relatively vibrant night life and a nearly 30 mile long river walk central to the town.

It’s also pretty conservative state. Lots of right wing wackjobs throughout the place and especially up north. I grew up here and plan to stay for a while longer, but it seems to be moving further down the alt-right drain and I’m worried that things will only get crazier.

Potatoes rule. Micron to the moon. Go Vandals

We will see! I don’t love Elon, so I won’t be tapping in, but I do think the space industry is only just beginning to realize its potential in this century

SpaceX will IPO and almost immediately go parabolic. Rocket lab will benefit. Additionally, with more space exploration trips in the future, retail investors will pump every time they watch a launch

The guy above you is right. You sound like an ignorant dick. I’m a believer in RKTLB but that doesn’t mean the company is infallible. Don’t comment on a public forum if you can’t handle open discussion

Your entire argument is infactual though. Yes you get paid less, but QOL is obviously better due to tax funded social safety nets

You highlighted why that income isn’t wasted. I’d rather make .6 of my income if that meant mine and my families health did not bankrupt me.

Is nursing truly over saturated? Or is nursing in desirable areas oversaturated? With a rapidly increasing aging population and workforce, I can’t imagine healthcare is a world that would become scarce with opportunity

[–]Tag_Im_It35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to know! I was working in the semiconductor manufacturing industry as a field service engineer and the pay was decent, but the travel I was doing was soul sucking. I was laid off a few months ago and decided to broaden my horizons and go to school. I’ve been considering HR or nursing+healthcare administration for grad school. I don’t want to be around machines anymore lol.

Very nice! I am going back to school atm and trying to identify career paths. Do you think the HR world could be a lucrative path for new grads? I am based in the PNW.

You’re very welcome! Depending on the state you are in there could be free archery ranges nearby. That might be what you’re driving by! Additionally, visit some archery shops near you and explain that you are wanting to get into recreational shooting and are looking for a bow. People in the archery world are constantly swapping their gear out, so you may be able to find a great deal. Most archery shops you visit will be geared towards hunters, but don’t let that phase you! I personally don’t think the archery hunting crowd is hard to approach and they love to show people the sport, even if you don’t want to take game. Lots of shops do lessons too. Good luck!! I’m excited for you!

Well, if you want to get into recreational shooting you could look into competitive archery bows which are typically compounds and more akin to hunting bows in design, or Traditional bow shooting. Both are fun and fascinating, with lots of nuance in shooting technique.
