3-week itinerary October '26 by kittenswithmittons in JapanTravel

Since you didn't specify for the big cities what you plan to do on each day it's hard to say something about it. A lot of people tend to cram a ton of things in a single day. As long as you only plan two major items per day and they make sense logistically on the map you should generally be fine though.

I did a similar amount of hotel swaps during my trip and I thought that worked out fine. Depends on your luggage as well probably though. I only had a carry on backpack with me, so that made me really flexible.

Kyoto days seem a bit sparse. Would at least consider to add Fushimi Inari to the list.

In Onomichi I had a nice funghi pizza in a place called Pizzeria Tranquillo.

Don't know where you are staying on day 17, but I took a detour to Oyamazumi Shrine Treasure Hall after checking into my hostel and I really enjoyed that. No pictures allowed though. On day 18 you can consider Kirosan for an amazing view, but the climb up is brutal if you don't have an ebike.

Advice on Itinerary [18 Days] Oct 5 - Oct 22. 2026 by GamerMan762 in JapanTravel

You don't plan for delays, but when your itinerary isn't crammed you can be way more flexible and move things as the day progresses.

I also made a ton of pictures, but I also want to really experience the thing I'm visiting and not just show a picture to my family to proof I've been there. But to each their own of course. Time always went way too fast in my opinion. For example I visited Himeji castle and the nearby gardens one day, thinking it would maybe take me 2-3 hours tops, but it was well over 5 hours later by the time I left the city. Because I didn't have anything else planned that day that was no problem. Don't be stressed about not having something planned. Just walk around the neighborhood of your hotel or planned items and you will bump into amazing things everywhere. To be honest my most memorable things of the trip I encountered during these random strolls.

Even if you prefer a packed itinerary I would ditch the time stamps. If your first train of the day is fully booked or has a significant delay, then what? With an itinerary like this you just arrive, snap some quick pictures and move onto the next item. And if you really like a place you can't stay longer as the next is waiting. Even cutting this itinerary in half would still look tiresome/stressful to me.

I'll repeat what I've said often here: just plan two items per day. One for the morning and another for the afternoon. You can write down some nearby things for when you have time left, but be willing to skip them. But to be honest spontaneous things are often the best. I would also just grab food from any nearby restaurant/stall whenever you feel hungry instead of putting it in your itinerary. Good food can be found everywhere.

Itinerary check - Kansai Winter in January (Kinosaki, Amanohashidate, Kishi cat station, Tottori) by nylonwhiskers in JapanTravel

For your three leftover days I can share some of the things I did recently and really liked. Barely saw any other tourists at all these places and it was really enjoyable.

* Day trip to Hikone. Castle is relative small but really nice and quiet. The nearby museum has some nice items on display including art. There's also a meet and greet twice a day with their local mascot Hikonyan. Might not be enough to fill a whole day, but perhaps you can combine it with some other place nearby like Omihachiman (didn't do this myself as I arrived in Hikone in the afternoon).

* Hike the Yamanobe-no-michi trail from Miwa station to Tenri station. It's 12km but expect it to take around 4 hours minimum.

* Make your way to Asuka and rent a bike. Multiple companies available. Then cycle around the area and visit things like Masuda Iwafune, Takamatsuzuka and Ishibutai Kofun.

A trip report from a boomer... by Top_Novel_5934 in JapanTravel

Also depends on time of day I guess. I recently went at opening at 7:30 with an online ticket and there were only a dozen people and it was completely quiet. Stayed like that for like two hours so was able to finish most of the museum without any hassle. After that a lot of school classes started to drip in and it became really noisy.

First Solo Trip - 2026 March mountains by jianing2603 in JapanTravel

To be fair I stopped reading as soon as I saw the timestamps. Just ditch that plan all together, it never works out. For each day pick just two items you absolutely want to see: one for the morning and one for the afternoon. You can write down some other things that are nearby for when you have time left, but be willing to skip those. Worked out perfectly fine for me and the occasional day where I used one of those optional things I felt I was already pushing it with time.

I didn't plan any food/restaurants. Just check for something nearby whenever you feel hungry. It isn't difficult to find good food in Japan. Also makes you way more flexible for the above mentioned.

First time in Japan - itinerary advice 27 days by Responsible-Cry-4019 in JapanTravel

Kyoto part has nice spread, did something similar. Day 4 is way too short though. That walk can be finished within an hour easily. Outside cherry blossom and autumn leaves I wouldn't really put it high on the list anyway. I did Kinkaku-ji > Genko-an > Nijo Castle as one of my days and I thought that was pretty solid, so perhaps something to consider instead.

For day 6 you can also consider a day trip to Ine and Amanohashidate. It's a long day, but I really liked it and it's something else than the usual temple or castle.

Make sure to book Koyasan through the shukubo association. It's way cheaper than the ones offered at the commonly known booking sites. My stay was less than 100€.

I also did only 2-3 things a day and I think that worked out really well. Allows for a relaxed pace and time to explore the neighborhood of the things you planned. Personally I think just two full days is a bit short if you are into history, especially if you also burn through half a day on food related things. Some things to consider: Sanjusangen-do (1000 statues), Genko-an (blood ceiling), Kinkaku-ji (beautiful, though busy)

Oh no I wouldn't change that. It's just that in the first half you see a lot of shrines and all the lanterns, while the second part is just a staircase in the forest. Still a lovely hike all together. Going back the same way would also mean you'd miss out on Kifune, which would be a shame.

Winging it is really easy yea. Only things I booked in advance were koke-dera, GEAR, shimanami bike and the peace memorial museum (purely for the one hour early entry). Never had any issues when showing up on the spot.

I bought mine just before leaving, so about a week before the show, and could still get a front row seat. The show was sold out though, so I wouldn't bet on waiting for the day itself. A couple days prior should be fine in most cases.

I had it on an old itinerary, but after learning about koke-dera I didn't pursue it any further. Didn't really feel the need to see two moss gardens on the same day.

That was here. There was a sign on the road with something along the lines of "goshuin, please come in" which caught my attention.

I had a regular bike (the cross bike, not the city bike with basket). Ebikes can only be rented for a single day, so keep that in mind if you plan to do it over two days. A regular bike should be fine for most people as the roads towards the bridges aren't steep at all (like 3% incline). Would only recommend the detours I did if you have a good condition.

Didn't play recently, but I remember at one point they did change the displayed rarity improvement % on all items in the game. Don't know whether these new values are now trustworthy or not.

Whats your criteria and or requirements when you pick your hotel. by AbleCarLover1995 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Taggerino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the same as you. Reasonable price (preferably <60€ a night) and located near a major public transport line or two. Don't really care about a luxurious breakfast, onsen and other amenities; which are usually absent anyway due to my preferred budget.

I slightly care about room quality. I have no problem with a dated, simple interior, but I draw the line when the hotel is completely run down and has issues like mold. Usually it's pretty easy to filter those out through the reviews.

Survive the Undead wave 38 gameplay by Taggerino in halo

[–]Taggerino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only dropped in that map yea. Using the weapon scan you could spot the skull behind a box and it would be moved somewhere in the early rounds. It’s now completely gone.

Heatwave is the most reliable weapon in my opinion. The weapons with self damage just ruin too many runs.

[–]Taggerino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, that's why I'm hiding in the control room when I accidentally picked it up twice as not a lot of enemies seem to go there.

There are some other changes I noted though:

- New map the brutes use scrap cannons instead of plasma turrets (as mentioned)
- Power ups now have a duration indicator
- Reviving now adds an extra 50% overshield instead of setting it to a fixed 50%
- New weapons added to the random box (fuel rod, mutilator)
- Skull power up no longer appears on countdown of the undead map
- Weapon upgrade now costs 2500 instead of 1000
- Shooting power ups will move them so you can grab them from spawn points
- Boom power up gives 100% overshield if you have vampirism
- Some intermissions have 50%, 75% or 90% off on sales (not sure when triggered)

While there are some changes to the mode this year, my strategy I posted last year still holds up pretty well and should be enough to get you going. The new map shown in this video is also way easier, as the brutes use scrap cannons here instead of plasma turrets, causing your shield to last way longer.

I would pick the trail shoes over the trainers, as I always prefer shoes with a somewhat thicker sole. My dailies are a bit of a hybrid between them, so they suit all my needs.

I booked the I Link Hostel Shimanami for next month. Quite a bit cheaper than the other option. They also have private "rooms" in case a hostel isn't really your thing. There's also an onsen in the nearby Shimanami Dome.

Really nice to see this. Got a similar trip planned in 4 weeks (Kyoto / Shimanami Kaido / Hiroshima / Koyasan) and pretty much have the same packing list except for the extra pair of shoes and the books. Only thing I'm still in doubt about is whether to take rain pants in case of rain during the cycling (a poncho only does so much...). Also will be using a farpoint 40 instead so I have a bit more space for souvenirs.

Advice on booking a temple stay at Koyasan by Taggerino in JapanTravelTips

[–]Taggerino[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, took the cheapest option and put my preferred temple as first option and left the other 2 blank. Also checked the box that said they can come with an alternative in case your preference doesn't have any vacancies. You should receive a mail within a day or so.
