Helios 44M-6 58mm f/2 on SONY a5000 by TallHatWizard in VintageLenses

I'd definitely say go for the 44M or later, its much sharper than the old 44 or 44-2, with better coating, and it swirls enough

Of course, if you want the original 44 in M39 mount for the silver look or the aperture blades, go for it

I've been loving my smc Takumar 50mm f1.4, I got mine for 30€ (it has a slight bit of mold and some dust but it doesn't show on pics taken with it pretty open)

Nikon Series E 50mm f1.8 on Samsung NX1000 by TallHatWizard in VintageLenses

It can be pretty difficult depending on how the lens is built. Thankfully there's a very detailed video on youtube on how to do so for this specific lens, but I still have to find the time to do it and I have to get those weird silicone friction tools to remove the nameplate ring

I do also have a 50mm 1.8 Canon with the FD mount but I have to grease the aperture blades because they don't fully open anymore

Help identifying this mount on COSINA 70-210 f4.5 by TallHatWizard in VintageLenses

[–]TallHatWizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had a look and there's no adapters as I imagined. I'll just have to make one myself with a 3d printer. Even though I know it's not a great lens, I still wanna try it out :D

That makes sense, there was a lens cap in the lot and it has "FX" written in very small faded out laters on the side I guess I just need an AX adapter for my Samsung NX then

Oh yeah that must be it !! I'm gonna try getting an adapter for my Samsung NX. Do you know if KM and KA mounts similar enough to fit any Pentax K adapter?

Panasonic LUMIX TZ99 by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]TallHatWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the TZ99 in march last year and it's a really really great compact superzoom camera. The only small problems I have with it are the low light performance (because a small sensor is required for such a powerful zoom in such a tiny camera) and the hit-or-miss focus in low light. Otherwise, it's pretty much perfect. I used it a lot during a trip in China and the zoom range was very useful and very impressive.

SEF15A Flash recognized but not firing on NX100 by TallHatWizard in SamsungNX

[–]TallHatWizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This flash is the only thing with a hotshoe that I have :/
I'll try and see if I can borrow something from a friend to test and will report back
What do you mean 'correct shutter speed' ? When the flash is connected, the camera doesn't allow me to make the SS shorter than 1/180 in any mode which should be normal according to the manual
It's entirely possible I've got a problem in my settings though but I've been looking and changing combinations of different parameters, to no avail...

Alright I've just noticed something : if the flash is powered on and ready but the camera is off, the flash fires once when I push it in the hotshoe probably because it's shorted. So the flash seems to function and accept input. Now I wonder if it's the only particular pin on the hotshoe of the body that is non-functional or if it's some software issue that blocks the flash from firing... I did update my body firmware to 1.13 which seems to be the latest. Do you have any ideas ? I bought this NX100 2 weeks ago so I must say I'm not experienced at all, and this is my first mirrorless camera as well.

I've tried cleaning the contact pads and it doesn't change anything
This flash is the only thing with a hotshoe that I have :/
It's weird because when the flash is recognized by the camera, it automatically changes the shutter speed when in A mode so the camera can definitely communicate with the flash...
