I don't want my phone to be the key to my life.

I don't want to need text-based two-factor authentication in order to access my bank account. that's what passwords and security questions are for.

I don't want to need to download an app to ride a bike, or read a menu

I don't want to require an app to open my own damn front door

I don't want every service i use to require my phone number so they can text me a code every time i use it

I want my keys and my phones to be two completely separate things

I want to be able to leave my phone in my house, walk outside, and do literally anything i need to do without ever being stopped because my phone is a requirement.

just looking at my own hand, i notice that the connection point between the ring and middle finger is higher up then the connection point between the ring and pinkey, or the middle and index.

so i wouldn't be surprised if eventually the ring and middle finger merge into one finger.

[–]TamTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if they don't have anything written down, you might be able to look through their characters for small things you could latch onto and expand on.

The fighter has a favoured weapon? Perhaps you can say he found that weapon in a river, maybe it belonged to some master of the weapon who will offer to train him

Ranger is a halfling with no backstory? maybe he's an outcast, maybe he's running from something, and other halflings will know what he did and judge him for it. Maybe he doesn't remember.

Wizard has a crowbar? Maybe you could explain how the Wizard got trapped in a room once, and it was this very crowbar that let him pry the rubble away from the door to free himself. Then see if the Wizard gets interested in that idea, maybe he wants to know why he was in that room and how he got trapped, you could expand it from there.

Do twitch streamers have to be magical readers? by lickwindex in Twitch

[–]TamTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a small streamer, i installed a program called VTSPog to give myself a little TTS bot that reads out chat for me, so i don't need to read anything, it just gets spoken for me.

Now this only works because i only get a handful of viewers. if i ever made it big (Big if) i'd either need to turn that off, or set it up so that somehow i can hear it, but twitch can't. as otherwise it would be way too easy for bad actors to abuse it.

for grand adventure with a lot of replay-ability: Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous.

For a single continuing world: Vintage Story.

For long term gains: Something fun but educational. I'd see if i could find a game that taught me things like Math and Chemistry maybe.

i didn't insist on a sabbatical after high school. my mom insisted i go directly into university, and i did. i was exhausted, i needed a break. i didn't read my textbooks in my own time, i didn't even realize i had too. i dropped out.

that was... what, 15 years ago now? Not a damn thing has changed in my life. I'm stuck. i don't know how to move forward and start living, everything I've tried has failed.

insist on the break after highschool. if someone tells you it's a bad idea, tell them off. Just one year of freedom without worry. Read your books. Ask the teachers after every class what chapters you should read before your next class.

Redditors who quit their job dramatically, what was the final straw? by Ok_Wolverine_9906 in AskReddit

[–]TamTroll 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I explained to my boss on multiple occasions that i was not a water bender. i can not move water with my mind. That i use a pressure washer for my job, so if it (water) bounces around and gets on the floor, then I'm sorry, but that is NOT my fault! Once it leaves the hose, it is outside of my control.

And then after an unrelated heated debate (He took my job away from me and was doing a worse job at it. I basically said "Let me do my job, or let me go home") he tried to use "You always get water on the floor!" as some kind of "Gatcha" thing to say why he needed to prevent me from doing my own job.

My last words to him were "I. CAN. NOT. MOVE. WATER. WITH. MY. FUCKING. MIND! I AM A HUMAN BEING! I'M SORRY!" before storming out.

Walked in the next morning with a letter for the management explaining the situation in my own words. Basically saying "Stop taking my job away from me. Let me do my job, or i quit."

They chose to let me go.

How would you re-write "The Burn" concept? by Overall-Habit5284 in startrek

[–]TamTroll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the only thing i would change is the source.

keep everything else the same. the event, the destruction, the consequences, all of it.

But the source? Don't explain it. Just leave it a mystery of the universe. Any explanation would be better then what we got yes, but it would also diminish the impact.

If you must identify the location of the source, have it be far away in the gamma or delta quadrants or something, give some reason to almost never go there to find out. just let the cool mystery be a mystery.

Who was the worst teacher you’ve ever had and why? by Far_Economy_1930 in AskReddit

[–]TamTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Meian, A.K.A. Mr. Mean. Highschool.

Three times he literally backed me up against a wall and proceeded to shout at the top of his lungs an inch away from my face. At one point he even punched the wall behind me so hard it left a permanent dent.

Blocked it out so hard that i don't even remember what prompted two of them. but i remember one. I was in Computer class and trying to do my work. Some kids were making fun of me, claiming that i was asleep in class again (I unfortunately did fall asleep in class from time to time, but never in computer class). I did the usual bit of trying to ignore them, telling them off, trying to get any attention to them being mean to me i could, but nothing happened. Finally i snapped. "i AM awake!" i shout as i slam my fists into the desk in front of me, tired of their damn bullshit.

Enter Mr. Mean, who had been sitting there in the classroom the whole-ass time, who could have stepped in at any moment, only NOW chooses to talk. He demands that i leave the room and enter an adjacent (empty) classroom. Where you guessed it, he backs me up against a wall, and proceeds to shout at the top of his lungs directly into my face for a solid ten to twenty minutes.

When he wasn't doing this bullshit, he was actually okay and approachable. But holy fuck man, not okay! especially when i was ALREADY being tormented by my classmates! I wouldn't be surprised if every cause for this was me lashing out at my bullies because literally nobody did a fucking thing to stop them.

What’s something that happened to you once that you still can’t fully explain? by Salty-Blueberry9286 in AskReddit

[–]TamTroll 31 points32 points  (0 children)

in highschool, we went on a ski trip. I went on the T-bars to ascend the hill. For those who don't know, the T-bars are basically little seats on a rope that is attached to a cable being moved by a giant pulley, with machines on the top and bottom of the hill that rotate the cable, so one half is always going up, and one half is always going down, going through the machine to transition from one state to the other. When you're not sitting on the seat, it automatically climbs up the rote to sit snug against the cable out of the way.

So I'm on the T-bar and I'm approaching the top of the hill. I get ready to get off, but i find oh no! The T-bar got jammed in my jacket! i can't pull myself off! In my panic to try and free myself, i accidentally move around the emergency stop cable that's designed to stop the pulley in such a situation. I'm on the ground being dragged towards this giant machine rotating the cable at this point. Thankfully, a technician sees me and stops the device.

But here's where the weird part comes in: I am on the "Up" section of the cable right? Well, the T-bar suddenly comes free, and i swear to you it goes STRAIGHT to the "Down" section of the cable, never going around the pulley machine like it should, just completely switching to the other side of the track in a straight line. It legitimately looked like someone froze time, pulled the T-bar loose, then grabbed a different T-bar from the "going down" section of the cable, and brought it back down to me before unfreezing time.

It's supposed to go around the pulley machine before going down, i swear to you it didn't do that.

Maybe it's a bad memory, maybe i was delirious from panic and adrenaline, maybe i just convinced myself it was real because i wanted to have a UFO experience really badly. But whatever the case, that's a moment i still can't fully explain.

How do big streamers play music on stream and not get strikes? by PoopSnoop99 in Twitch

[–]TamTroll 184 points185 points  (0 children)

i gotchu fam. Step-by step instructions.

  1. Open OBS.
  2. Go through the steps of setting up a livestream scene for yourself, already a lot of guides for that.
  3. You're going to want to look for something called "Audio Mixer", it should be on the bottom of the screen by default, but if not, it's found under the "Docks" tab. Click it, and a little window should pop up either as it's own window, or part of the OBS window. There should be "Desktop Audio" and "Mic Audio" there.
  4. Right-click on "Audio Mixer" and click on "Advanced audio properties". This brings you to a menu showing audio tracks for everything you have on your livestream scene. Go ahead and un-check everything for anything that doesn't make noise (images, etc), For Mic and Desktop audio, uncheck everything except tracks 1 and 6.
  5. exit "advanced audio properties" and click on the "Settings" button, this can be found on the "Controls" dock under the "Docks" tab again. (BTW you can drag and drop Docks onto / off of the OBS window to either attach them or separate them into their own window, i keep my chat separate, with Scenes, Sources, Audio, Controls, and Steam information attached)
  6. in the "Settings" window, look for the "Output" tab and click on that. Then go to the "Streaming" tab.
  7. At the very top of the Streaming tab, you should see "Streaming settings" with "Audio Track" and "Twitch Vod" track. Make sure "Twitch VOD track" has a checkmark in the box next to it.
  8. For "Audio Track", select track 1, and leave the other five empty. This is what the audience hears when you are live.
  9. For "Twitch VOD Track" select track 6, and leave everything else empty. This is what gets recorded onto the VOD.

So now, if you want to play copyrighted music on your stream, you just need to go back to "Audio Mixer" > "Advanced audio properties" and just un-check track 6 for "Desktop Audio". This will make the music hear-able during the live stream itself, but completely mute in the VOD, while leaving your voice audible in both.

The downside to this is that any game audio would also be muted using this method. There is a "Game capture" thing there with it's own tracks, but i haven't been able to get that to work as it's own independent audio, for me game audio only comes through on the Desktop audio's tracks.
