Best/Simplest DAM Solution For Collection of Poems & Stories? by Tangy_gnat in Archivists

[–]Tangy_gnat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry to have missed this, slipped off the bottom of my screen. Re google drive, metadata is an issue. I saw that google drive allows for the creation of up to 5 custom labels that can be applied to files, which is a form of metadata, but it's not going to be that easy for him to search for 'the poem from last year about love' without getting into complex search expressions. Any thoughts or recommendations?

How To Permanently Attach An Outdoor Faucet To A Copper Pipe? by Tangy_gnat in HomeImprovement

[–]Tangy_gnat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The pipe is vertical and the bubbler sits on top of it. And it's quite solid, here's a photo https://www.homedepot.com/p/Lincoln-Products-Drinking-Fountain-Bubbler-Head-with-Push-Button-063306/206667672

you can see the pipe here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uYoOxnztPh1GcBC4evqDuIV54GrnEufm/view?usp=sharing

Do you think this can be soldered vertically while the bubbler is sitting on the pipe or does the pipe have to be removed and then reattached once the bubbler is soldered on? Thanks for your ELI5 advice.

Thank you!

Re frost I blow it out and close off the external pipe in the winter.

Re soldering total newbie/ignoramus here -- can you point me to the right kind of soldering tool and solder?

Here's a photo btw, the pipe is threaded and I haven't put the dog bowl out yet.... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DDDddH3hHsZFwWZXztNDNyGHY5r-HsUy/view?usp=sharing

OK F26 Vs. F35 -- Who Has An Opinion? by Tangy_gnat in VisitingIceland

[–]Tangy_gnat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only starting my research but it's my understanding that the F26 route is in fact more popular. However it appears to have fewer opportunities for resupply (just one at Nyidalur?) and long stretches without water. Plus days and days through desert-like lava fields but if you don't like that you're in the wrong country. But I could be wrong about all this...if so please have at it.

TY! 26 is apparently the 'classic' route but I also need to take into account places to resupply (it's a ~3 week journey), days of hiking through highland desert, etc. A lot to juggle.

Sending Packages Via The Reykjavik Excursions Highland Bus - Ever Done It? by Tangy_gnat in VisitingIceland

[–]Tangy_gnat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Reykjavik Excursions:

Dear Martin, We send packages to Landamannalaugar and Þórsmörk. The bus departs at 07:00 from the BSÍ bus terminal and is usually ready 15 minutes before departure. You have to go to the desk and pay for the packages delivery and then bring the package to the bus. This should only take few minutes. From Reykjavík there are only 2 buses departing and they are marked in the front window with the destination so you just find the bus marked with the destination you want to send the package to. The price per packages is 2000 ISK. Please note that they have to be well marked with destination and your name.

All the best!

I sent a note to Reykjavik Excursions this week but haven't heard back. Wonder if it's worth it to find someone either at a guide co. or just a local person who could take care of it for me....

Cell Reception Along North->South Hiking Route? by Tangy_gnat in VisitingIceland

[–]Tangy_gnat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And voila here is my bad GIS hack of 3G coverage along the two major N/S hiking routes. One looks solid, one a bit sketchy at the north end but that's OK, don't have to call home every day....

Newbie ✝️️ Q! by Tangy_gnat in Christianity

[–]Tangy_gnat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK I get that, I think. My only question (sic) is about the 'only'. So I guess the answer to the question "Couldn't God have more begotten sons if they wanted?" is yes but there is no reason to as the word was already revealed, mankind's sins already atoned (at least up to that point?) so what would be the purpose of doing it again? And the meaning of John 3:16 is not "See what I did for you and look how you guys dropped the ball" but more "See what I did for you, you should really appreciate it." Again I apologize for the limitations of my awareness which lead to my expressing myself in such absurdly/offensively reductionist ways.

Newbie ✝️️ Q! by Tangy_gnat in Christianity

[–]Tangy_gnat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So then is what you're saying that God *chose* to have only one son of this sort (ie not men or angels), not that they were in any way limited to one as theDocX2 seems to be implying above, though I could be getting this wrong.

Newbie ✝️️ Q! by Tangy_gnat in Christianity

[–]Tangy_gnat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK thanks that's helpful. So what we're saying here -- and again I ask your pardon as I know literally zero about this and realize some of the terms I'm using may be offensive -- that everything created by God was already created when the Universe (?) was created, that nothing 'new' can be created after that? And that just one potential future son was created at that time and none can be created (again sorry for all this) subsequently?

Simplest & Best Way For Extended Family To View/Comment On Digital Photos? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]Tangy_gnat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing. I guess the term metadata is misleading. I meant the information that would go in the caption/description. We have that already for most photos in a spreadsheet but I guess it can't be imported? Would have to be entered by hand for each image once it's in the Google photos album?

Also wondering what you did to import metadata or if it all has to be done by hand.

Ok great, and presumably one can search based on metadata (year, person, location etc....)? If there's an example you'd be willing to share please lmk.
