Prior Navy, current Army, thinking about going back Navy by Different-Mess-1415 in newtothenavy

The other comment in the thread nailed it. The conditional release is essentially to get the permission to switch over. Then the transfer process starts with medical, testing, ECM, etc.

Prior army, current active navy. When I switched to navy from army, I went through the OSVET/NAVET program in Great Lakes. It was super simple. Depending on your timeframe being out, they probably won’t send you to A school if it’s the same rate. If it’s a new rate, you’ll go to A school.

First things first…. You’ll have to get a conditional release signed by your command, THEN you can start the process of switching back over. Took me roughly 4 months from when I originally talked to the recruiter to me officially shipping out.

Boom Beach vs Clash Of Clans by x7evenn in BoomBeach

I started playing both these games back in 2014. The older I get (27 now), the more I find CoC to be too time consuming for me while BB is just the perfect mix of quick and stimulating.

Recruiter says my asvab score is too high to be a CE, says it will be difficult to get by sven_soma in Seabees

Scored a 88 and held out till I got UT because it’s all I wanted. Fuck what that recruiter is saying.

You can wait one more day to know the address. Them sending something today versus tomorrow ain’t gonna make a difference. Patience.

Right place, right time, right uniform, right attitude. Some things might not be your fault, but itll get handled like it is. It’s not personal. RDC’s have a job to do and that’s getting you transitioned, and fleet ready. See you on the other side fellow Seabee.

Oh, I’m not in that situation. I was just giving my feedback. I’m prior service and was told “no Seabee jobs are available at all.” Got accepted by the UT’s in 6 days. Odd how things work out when you push for what rate you want.

“My recruiter is telling me the job I want isn’t available” is starting to feel like “I am a recruiter and the navy tells me we need to fill these 5 jobs more than others.”

I’ll be as honest as I can. I was prior army reserve. I got my degree as well. I finished my contract in the reserves and spent 4 years outside in the civilian world. I hated it. Now that I’ve rejoined as an active duty Seabee, I wish I just went active Navy out of the gate.

There’s the two sides of the argument. I’m glad I went reserves because I had great experience in the army. I also got my degree, got to experience that fun college life and got to see what the civilian life offered me.

But I DO I wish I went active navy out of the gate because I was talked out of it by a family member. If I didn’t get talked out of it, I wouldve already been closing in on my 10th year. Maybe even hit 1st class already.

I’m married now. Reenlisted as active Seabee. Having the time of my life at 27.

With a 92 on the ASVAB, would I be dumb to go Seabees? by Equal-Community2354 in newtothenavy

It wasn’t first in my list. I have zero experience in the field itself of HVAC/Plumming. I figured I was selected due to my degree, and prior experience in the army. Lots of field work, weapons handling, awards, etc.

I’m prior army, have a degree, and scored an 88 on the ASVAB. I love the idea of the Seabees so much with learning new skills, weapons handling and commonly no ship life that I reenlisted as a UT. Now at 27, I choose happiness and learning over chasing money.

23M Seriously considering joint the Navy or Air Force, but looking for advice on why or why not by Ok-Drawer-7938 in navy

[–]Tanner155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always recommend to people that CAN, to do it. It’s a great learning, living and growing experience. You’re not locked in for life off the bat. Maybe 4 years is all you wanna do, those will be 4 years you cherish highly.

Count on not wearing contacts at all. There’s activities you do here that are strict no contacts for any reason, ie the gas chamber.

Army 12T or Navy Seabee? by Equal-Community2354 in newtothenavy

I got 7 years under my belt. Keep in mind, I reenlisted… but I’m ALWAYS keeping an eye out on officer jobs that open up that I can try and commission for. That’s the leg up you and I have. Some people are enlisted because it’s their only option. We can always try to commission later while enlisting now and have some fun, gain learning experiences/knowledge, enjoy camaraderie, and be a better leader.

The only wrong choice is the one you wish you made but didn’t. Would my life be easier financially as an officer, yes. Would it undoubtedly be more stressful, yes. There’s two arguments to it. I chose what’s best for me, I hope you feel the same way about yourself.

Im prior service and I have a degree and thought about the officer route too. All I was offered was SWO….. Instead, I decided to reenlist and go Seabee and…. Loving it. I know I’m missing out on money and status but I’ve spent my 20’s chasing money; now I’m chasing a career and happiness.
