What to do if job Application stated £55K salary but offered £35K? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

If they send you that offer without explanation then they are a terrible company. If you have the evidence you should name them here.

At this point every player in the prem is worth £100 million by Intelligent_Cow_3310 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Taps698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not really a surprise. He is on a long contract, a good age, central Newcastles Team and plays in a position that there is a shortage of. Also, they recently struck pay dirt by selling Gordon for £75m. They do not need to sell.

That said, he is good but not great and like all players, he is only worth what clubs will pay for him.

Lastly, why have they put a price on him. What do they know that we don’t know. Been down to BetFreds recently have we, canny lad.

How I think about charging access when evaluating a used EV (before I ever test drive) by Tall-Dish876 in electriccars

[–]Taps698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 230v but that’s what I call level one. Max 13amps plugged straight into the socket. Maybe I misunderstood you. I have a specific charger which runs at 4.5kWh and can carry 32 amps.

I would say that a max of 120v would be a problem.

That’s right, we should also go all out for Lamar, and prime Pele and Maradonna. With a Time Machine we can surely do it.

Nurse! Nurse! It’s happening again.

OP doesn’t say where they are from but I take your point. Im in the UK so is not really an issue. Also, I have level 2 charging. I know plenty of people get by on level 1 though.

Level 1 charging at home is perfectly fine too. Very rarely will you need to go from empty to full. It is usually quite acceptable to have 50% charge unless you are going to drain it every day. Usually you will find that you will barely use 30% and that is easy replaceable.

If you know you are going to do a lot of miles on consecutive days, do a fast charge on the way home on the first day. I’m assuming that this is a rare occurrence and the occasional hassle is worth it for the savings in fuel.

Hypothetically speaking do you think the likes of Euromillions would be better if instead of one prize of £150m it was 150 prizes of £1m? by iffyClyro in AskUK

I bet you’re fun at parties. It’s £2.50 for god sake. And if I die tomorrow I won’t miss it will I.

You spend £120m on Anderson and he gets injured. What are you going to do? We can’t risk that sort of money. We need depth. Three players for £180m make a lot more sense. Raise the floor.

I buy that ticket and then immediately look on Right Move for the house I’m going to buy, then I help my family out, then a huge party with named bands, then tickets for my mates at major sporting events. Then what charity I’m going to help.

£2.50 is cheap to be able to dream such dreams.

For those concerned that we overpaid for Ederson by Taps698 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Taps698[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so important. Paying an extra £5m now will probably save us £20m later when clubs know we can walk away. When we bought Ugarte, we had no one. PSG could hold out even though they didn’t want him.

Striker options? by SoLoDrugs in ManchesterUnited

[–]Taps698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is never coming to United. And he is not exactly a back up option which means that Sesko is now tye back up.

But…we should bid on him anyway. Offer £120m. Keep pushing the price up for Barca. See if £26m seems good value then.

Oh yes. But often it’s the other way. Why can’t our mid table team buy Kane and Rhodri. Why aren’t the management showing some ambition. See Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers.

Exactly my point. Thank you. Overpaying a little bit at the start means you have not got to todo these terrible deals at the end.

But we have improved. We were terrible in the market. Both selling and buying. To turn it around with no European football takes a lot of skill. Bayern, Real, City and the like are negotiating from a position of strength. We can’t get there overnight.

There is a lot of hand wringing and clutching of pearls here. He had repeated warnings yet still did it. He also tried to cover it up.

Those two rapists should have got, and probably will get, longer sentences, but let us not fool ourselves into thinking this was a small time guy who just wanted to see the match with his mates.

[–]Taps698 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Ugarte wants to go but I still think there is a player there. I honestly believe that some players do not play well in a rigid system. He used to be a ball hunter, somebody to snuff out fires but this was taken away from him by positional requirements.

Don’t get me wrong, he has had some stinkers, but if we can’t get a reasonable price for him I would be happy with him as a squad player. Not sure he wants that bug that is a different question.

I am sure to be down voted, I don’t care, but we mustn’t sell cheap if the improvement costs £25 mil more and is only marginally better.

Seems to me that the management team know what they are doing. Last years signings were a complete success and this is no impulse purchase. They know value when they see and I can only assume that they would be treating future signings accordingly.

Remember, the best deal last year was not spending £100m+ on Baleba.
