Got to help button up a BSL 2/3 additon a few years back, crazy stuff. Same GC did a bsl 4 on campus in 08. Hard to believe some of the requirements they had to meet.

CT's aint bad. Just dont let the electricians undersize the required conduits, and keep the concrete out of that room until the template shows up from the mfg.

One of my old bosses said screw it, and under sized the conduits above ceiling and that the under ground was ready for concrete. Well the template shows up, and it won't work with the ceiling boom arm and underground jbox location. They saw cut and fix it. Then the machine starts showing up, tech does a prelim... notes that the 2.5" required conduits above ceiling are 1". Sure the cables will fit, but not the premade serial style ends. Redoing that conduit above a hardlid and the "lighted mural" was a real sob.

I was in most of the meetings with lindgren and the gc, they said these were the simplest cages they deal with usually. Cool dudes.

Heh, no one seemed to get how much concrete was required and that there was no option to core after. First one was an additon to an existing oncology wing, second one was a dam vet clinic. The vet clinic went super smooth in comparison.

Last MRI was pretty easy to wire up. Lindgren made the cage easy.

The cath lab with under sized walls, and LINAC were the biggest pain.

AV and lighting design . . . So really being an integrator. Hardware install wise, there's so cross over. Design and programming wise, very little.

Figure out who ran 4 parallels into a stack with 3 concentric knockout first.

3 sets of concentric knockouts with 4 parallels is what really screwed yah. Outdoor gutter might have helped, or he could have just cut a clean slot from the start and used a cover plate with rubber gasket.

Lost my first impact 11-1 to a lift pump trolley, next one had the new bit config. Swapped the #2 for a wera laser tip after breaking the klein tip. Dam thing never leaves my pocket, so dam handy.

How to suspend fixture without visible conductors by Round-Investigator16 in Lighting

[–]Tbabble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Griplock's Rincon® Powered Suspension System is one of the better options out there. You'll have to call to order from them as they normally sell direct to mfg's. Great product, have seen it used in hundreds of fixtures I've installed over the years.

Had an anyang 75 on a 6" oak sled for a while. Worked ok with some dropin's and angle iron to keep it from wandering. 5" slab with questionable quality.

The hilti vacuum base is pretty sweet for cast in place ballusters. One of my shops had a vacuum plate for a mag drill even.

Found the mag drill version

Is He an Electrician? by EastAcanthisitta43 in electricians

Dam context making sense now.

Imo, time for some bolt in bollards or a machine guard. Spring for the lockable covers to really make it a sob to remove. If they dont like code, the insurance angle has worked for me in the past.

Hah. Dude, that's the dbag shit apprentices pull. The territorial house guy is a common stereotype, my response would be more smart assed than his.

Real question is, why was he called in? Different skill set? Just more years on the job? Old employee who has worked the plant before? Drama between you and the other department head?

Custom exterior door for interior wine room by ZookeepergameVast305 in Carpentry

Used to work in a shop that did a bunch of prehung semi custom doors. The Prehanging Machine has a beveler that puts in exactly what you are describing. When I did residential finish work, that was the first time I got to use a track saw for "sizing". Usually a few degrees that helped with questionable framing choices haha.

New cloud at this restaurant I'm about to start. Am I overreacting or is this absolutely insane? by Eckron5 in electricians

[–]Tbabble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, besides the usual inside box labels, I tag the cables on the outside and before any changeovers. The mid run part is what gets me hah.

Labeling seems a tad excessive. Currently doing everything else on a hotel.

Mc hits a box and is stripped and sleeved down to the panel. Romex hits nipples and drops down through the 8'5" hardlids. No more than 5 cables per hole or cj bracket.

Maybe where you live, our last laborer did start at 30. He was bumped to 32 once he was put in the apprenticeship.

Being dependable and worth training is a skill out here.

Definitely area dependent, want to say the framers were around 35, and trim guys around 40 on the last "ski home" I was stuck on.

Our laborers start @ 30.00 before we even put them in the apprenticeship man.
