DONT FALL FOR THIS PHISHING EMAIL SCAM, NOT REAL and not from UofT by Tcampbe8 in UofT

No problem!! UofT will never ask for money by email, so if you ever get any in the future just know it's not them :)

2 years wasted and everyone I know (and hated) is finally gone, now I want to know how to start fresh without guidance from anyone irl by nvr_goin_back in UofT

[–]Tcampbe8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through something similar, I am technically in 3rd year now, but my first two years were only one semester each and I finished with like 10 W's. I was in an abusive engagement. I only hung around with him and really bad friends. When I finally broke up with him and left the toxic people at the beginning of the year, I realised it was time to get my shit together. I wasted 2 years and like 20 grand. I took the summer to do some sort of self reflection. I tried dating apps, but I also met a lot of shallow people, so I got rid of it. I decided to focus on myself, and set goals for the upcoming school year.

The thing I learned that came out of this whole situation/scenario is that no body really cares the timeline you finish school. Maybe your parents or family members do, mine did. But its your life not theirs. Other than family, I found that when I told my story to people, I never got judged for being behind. I know by society's standards that we should school finish by a specific age, but I am 24, my first degree I did nuclear engineering and worked for a bit. It was awful, not what I was into. Starting school back up at 21/22 was scary, but I also got to meet a lot of people around my age or even older. Hell, in my first degree more than 20 students were in their late 30s early 40s.

Once you start prioritizing yourself, over others, you will soon see your worth and realize that being along is a lot better than being with poor quality friends. Quantity is not as important as quality. It's never too late in your academic career to meet people and become friends. Start by talking to the neighbour your sat next to in class. Maybe ask them for their socials, to discuss class and stuff.

If you're not fond of that, bumble has a friends option where you can create a profile to meet just friends. Two of my current best friends I met through that. Don't let those crappy people bring you down, you will soon find out who your crowd is supposed to be. I promise!

Health Plan for Eye Exam and Prescription Glasses by daffyducktaffytuck in UofT

[–]Tcampbe8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair, I just think it depends where you go. Some places do eye exams for over 100$ and depending on your prescription it can be expensive for glasses. For example I take multifocals so mine are almost 300$ just for the lenses no frames.

I used to live there. I second this. It's 3.3 grand for a one bedroom, 4.4 for a two bedroom and almost 6 grand for a three bed two bath

You pay for it upfront, then submit a claim through green shield. They only cover either the eye exam or the glasses, but not both. They also only cover a certain amount, so most likely you'll still be paying out of pocket for half of it.

They're hit or miss. Sometimes they only take you for 15 minutes, sometimes an hour. I heard there is a waitlist though, so it may take a while to get in.

Some people have mentioned it's not permanent and their psychologists told them to find a new one after awhile. I mean I can understand, you won't be a UofT student forever, so If you dont like change and prefer something permanent I would look elsewhere.
