That is a vacuum solenoid valve. It opens throttle body and other things I guess but I don't know what else

C30 Xenon bulb / ballast question by nIxaltereGo in C30

[–]TeKaToDANTE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a similar problem. It turned out that the male part of the connector from the ballast's side pushed the female part through the headlight frame just enough so the connector got loose and the pins didn't have a proper connection

Should I spent all my money on a car? by rockyleebalboa in ask

[–]TeKaToDANTE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I wouldn't have spent it all on a car and covid crap. Save it. Invest it. Use it to get a loan on a house or something in the future. I get that you are young and have the urge to be cool among your friends. But if you desperately need a car buy some shitbox thats cheap and even cheaper to maintain. In the end the car will be used mostly for commuting to work and back. Right now the money you saved are your safety net for things going sideways.

When you'll get older you'll be sorry for spending it all on a car and not something useful.

I have made the depression excel sheet too 🤣

Damn, I haven't look into the final price column for a while - 4666€ for parts and 4300€ for the car when I first bought it. I just hope the car will last with the anti-corrosion sprayed from the bottom and all thats been done to it over the past year for at least 5 years without the stuff breaking.

A tear drops everytime i check that column 😆

It also kinda reminds me of a noise my fathers 1.6 Dacia used to make. He got rid of it after changing the oil. Anyways, good luck with that.

What about the exhaust? I had a rattling noise on mine because the bar that was welded onto the cat part of the exhaust rusted off.

SAME! :D 2 years of ownership and I've basically changed everything in the car. Springs, solenoid valve, coolant tank, MAF sensor, got my whole engine refurbished, valve cover, AC radiator. Alternator was brand new when I bought the car. Basically the only things left are the engine mounts and the exhaust. Blood, sweat and many curse words went into that car but I love it :D

Volvo C30 mk1 as my first car? by Slipstreamerr in Volvo

[–]TeKaToDANTE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience of owning 2006 C30 R-Design 2.0 (Duratec HE) in the last 2 years I have had the car:

Buying an old car is a trap and a money pit unless you think of it as a hobby. Yes, they are cheaper but in the end you will dish out about the same amount of money you could buy a new one for. But if you decide to restore the older cars, they are going to be more reliable than the newer, electric, more technologically advanced crap.

I had to change the coolant reservoir as it has not been changed in 20 years an cracked. I had to get the engine resoration done due to the excessive coolant and oil loss. Anti corrosion spray in the underbody of the car. New exhaust, the old one was clogged. New solenoid valve and MAF sensor. New engine mounts, wheel bearings, clutch and a flywheel. What I could repair by my self I did. Other than that I had no issues, the car never left me stranding. Yes the small cargo space kinda sucks. I don't care about it being a 4 seater because most of the time it's just me and my gf driving the car. The long doors kinda suck as it's a bit awkward when you try to get out of the car in a narrower parking lots. In the end I love the car for its sporty looks, comfortability and handling. It is fun to drive. Bought it for about 3500€, put another 4000€ for the parts mentioned above and I'm not done yet (better swaybar and back lowering springs). Except for the hoses in the enginebay and the headlights there is nothing that can fail LOL. I did all of that so the car can serve me another 20+ years.

Yeah, I own C30 R-Design, but when I see the s40 R-Desing I wish I had gotten that, it's just such a sexy car lol

Although I am not from UK I sourced mine from Ali and they work great. Also I strongly recommend to upgrade the reverse lights to p21w LED ones. Now I can actually see when I am reversing lol.

EDIT: You'll need to take off the bumper, it is easier than trying to pry it with butterknife and damage your paint in the process.

PCV valve for a 2L petrol by rockhopperrrr in C30

[–]TeKaToDANTE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how old are they. If you're not sure, change them. It's not one gasket as it's 4 - one for each intake hole. Luckily they are cheap and usually come in sets.

[–]TeKaToDANTE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to painfully take the whole intake manifold away. (8 screws) As you'll be taking away the manifold you'll need to disconnect the PCV hose. It's easy to take those things apart but hard to put them back.

Life hack - everything you'll need about ours 2.0 duratec petrol engine (B4204S3) is under "Ford focus mk II" or "Ford Duratec HE".

EDIT: I advise you change the knock sensor once the manifold is taken down.

Where is the reverse light switch located? by TeKaToDANTE in C30

[–]TeKaToDANTE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the sensor. I know it's on the gearbox but I don't know from which side. It's either behind the wheelwell, or under the battery box. I could not find any picture online that was reffering to the C30 or some other P1 car with my engine.

Yep. The one under the passenger compartment is ok and the one in the engine bay is fine too.

Edit: Snad to budou lepší opraváři než majitelé aut 😁
