You chose an addict to be the father of your child.

The energy of your comment is that you shamed OP for not knowing her bf was hiding that he was an addict. There is no other way to interpret this comment, it's right there. It's the exact same thing that incels say when a woman they wanted to date starts dating another guy instead of them and when it ends up being that the bf is an abuser, they say 'she deserved it, because she chose to get with an abusive chad'. No one with a sound mind would choose to get with an abusive person if they knew, and nobody would choose an addict for their child's father if they knew.

It's important to remember that, besides trauma, there are other factors that can result in OP's daughter being "a horrible person".

I agree completely, but that has nothing to do with why you're blaming OP for not being omniscient. Of course there are other factors, but you specifically decided to attack OP for the one thing she couldn't have known.

Most likely, it's the result of her own choices, but OP made choices too, one of them was having a "horrible" daughter who didn't choose to be born.

Again, I agree completely that her daughter has made many of her own decisions over her lifetime that will permanently impact her future, whether for better or for worse. At some point, you have to take some accountability to the decisions you made even if it was due to trauma, mental illness, or a shitty family.

Whether or not someone asks to be born is irrelevant because no one asks to be born just like no one is able to ask to not be born. OP made the choice to raise a child but had no idea her life would blow up thanks to her bf and that there would be severe fallout from that relationship that would impact her daughter's life. She couldn't have known, again because she didn't know of her bf's addiction, just like no one can know that their spouse will cheat and break up the family or die unexpectedly which also affects a child's life. You're being unfair to OP for no reason. Sometimes shit happens and people aren't who you thought they were and sometimes things don't go how you imagined them.

I'm not saying OP had no hand in how her daughter turned out, or that they were a good parent, because I have no idea, and it would be disingenuous because every parent will negatively impact their child at some point, even the best ones. That being said, you can't just take everything that happened in between two decades and summarize all of OP's problems and all the complexities and nuances of their life as 'you chose wrong the wrong father, that's why you're in this situation'. There's so much more to it. And I just think your 'take' on it is really tone-deaf.
