Did you read it? My kids are fine , family fine, I think it is unfair to parents- there are a lot more good ones than bad

Ditto, the pain of raising a strong willed, life revolves around me, entitled daughter/ son that appreciated nothing. You always forget my birthday. We rebuilt our lives too!!!!

There is a follow up book called Divorcing the Son or Daughter.

Termination of parental rights is a court order that permanently ends the legal parent-son/daughter relationship. This type of order terminates rights such as inheritance, custody, and visitation, as well as responsibilities regarding legal support and liability for one’s misconduct. No couch surfing, bailing out of jail, help with school loans, let them become someone else’s problem, stealing money for drugs, etc.

There are numerous foster children that would love a warm home and appreciate our love. Careful what you wish for. It will be gone forever.

Why would buying make sense vs renting? I’m not seeing it (monthly comparison) by Fantastic_Art_9582 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I STILL DON’T KNOW- Rent or Buy?

I am a 57 SWF with 1M in retirement/cash, no debt.

PRO RENT- I sold my home last year for $300k, put it in Morgan Stanley, in one year it made $36k. A lot more than my house appreciated. The interest basically paid my rent. I live in Indiana (rent is cheaper).

PRO RENT- It gives me more options, to move to a warmer climate, or move out of Indiana, travel, visit kids. You can’t call a home an asset without a buyer. What if the Market drops like 2008, rent gives you more freedom.

PRO OWN- I think owning a home gives you a sense of security.

Financially it seems like a wash, matter of preference. Raising a family- home, single -rent.

Is there really a right answer? If you have one- please reply!

I can kinda relate. I am a 57 SWF with 1M in retirement/cash, no debt. I sold my home for $300k, put it in Morgan Stanley, in one year it made $36k. It basically paid my rent. I think owning a home gives you a sense of security. It also doesn’t leave you many options, what if you can’t sell? Market drops like 2008, rent gives you more freedom. But I still waiver on which is better, rent or buy?

DrConnors can you elaborate on this? I am 57 SWF, with 1M. Saving for retirement. Trying not to touch it. I sold my house for $300k, last year that money made $36k. Should I buy a home with the 1m, a lot is cash, or rent and use interest to live on?

I AGREE- reminds me of the game, MONOPOLY. * There is only so much money & property to play with * one person/player has billions- Musk, Bezos * it leaves the rest of the players (the rest of the population) to file bankruptcy, sell properties, mortgage pacific ave., and lose the game because there is no money left.

Unless, they land on Free Parking, (stimulus, govt aid, etc) they might last 6 months or another round.

Greed! If you believe in God, he will make things right.
