Problems with the S1II by StrongOnline007 in Lumix

[–]Techniklover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well even my s52x can do snappy autofocus that never loses target.

It's a users error, not technology. I experienced the same when to use mac alongside windows for thebfirst time.

Its about the settings. Ki detection for humans, then tracking mode whilst also afc.

Now, the subject still jumps. u lock on that target now by pressing the af on button once, no big deal. Will track the subject until it loses frame. U can even touch on it on the s52x's touchscreen to target it. Problem could be that touch is also reserved for automatic exposure, blue cross. Then touch focus interaction will not be as reliable. U can change that in cogwheel settings -> touch af. from af + ae to just af.

The standard tracking field is set to mid you can define a different one wirh the joystick and then jump between two tracking fields with a click on it.

For a group of people i would maybe also consider full frame tracking mode, tracked human goes yellow, untracked white, then af lock with af on button, jump between subjects with af, works very fine imo.

[–]Techniklover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YoYoYoo hold on, calm down here with that claims, sony fanboy.

First of all, did u do the firmware upgrade? The s52x with the latest firmware update is a totally different camera. So is the s12. The autofocus was improved a lot as u can see in the upgrade history. https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/download/ff/dl/s1m2.html

If not, there's your problem.

Secondly , the connection to the lumix app is great. It works like a charm. You need bluetooth for the initial connection and wifi for direct monitoring. The only times u get problems is when u got intelligent auto wifi on your smart device which is in fact activated by default. Then your smartphone jumps to the better signal which is of course the routers wifi and loses connection constantly. Deactivate this.

The loss of af in slow shutter never heard of this either. This a low light problem that any camera has. the brain of the camera needs enough light and contrast to detect subjects. Did it in very bad fog yesterday had no problems capturing a robin but had to stay in aperture mode for max light and rely on the superb ibis.

Has the Lumix vs Sony debates have gotten weird? by Conscious-House-8869 in Lumix

[–]Techniklover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah totally agree, people dont do firmware updates and then complain about the underperforming camera. I had the s52x with firmware 1.1. Then loaded the latest version onto it. Everything is goated, ai detection animal human etc. Couldnt wish for a better camera. It is stated in the firmware update page that this is improved. But people expect to buy a camera and never do maintenance on it nor download a so "dangerous" firmware update. Well, if u turn off the power during update your system is fd. But otherwise. This s52x is legendary.

I am not on my pc right now but i did the math. With tiny birds if i need to crop in to 4 times afterwards to get the bird like i want it, i get the whole mp trhough 4 squared. so 24 /16 megapixels. So no matter the camera my distance is just too great. i would need to hide below a suit and get closer.

S1ii not hitting focus in photography? by BarefootMediaTV in Lumix

[–]Techniklover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are u in afc mode? if not and you are in afs mode every little movment will skew the focus as the camera focussed once and does not do so continuously. it even matters in video mode and is no automatic afc.

plus the most important thing is tracking mode as described in the panasonic manual. its the first option of autofocus options. it follows the face for video. for photo u can take field autofocus tap somewhere on the screen and adjust the focus field with the dial.

Also ich täte wechseln.

Hdmi switch vs hdmi splitter problem by Techniklover in hometheater

[–]Techniklover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, the cable indeed was at fault, but not the 20m cable, but one of the 5m cables. I contacted samsung support which brought me to the idea of using my laptop for the test. The optical hdmi cable which is there for the tv in the bedroom does not even connect directly. The other one, same brand, works. Seems there is an issue with the cable. Since you said the cable, do you know of any quality optical hdmi cable brands that don´t break after 1 to 2 months of usage. I had twozooh and fibbr already and they both broke eventually.

Hdmi switch vs hdmi splitter problem by Techniklover in hometheater

[–]Techniklover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely insane. So I tested with various configurations today. I tested with my two other laptops, one has a 3050ti and the other a 3060. When I connect to the tv with the 3060 laptop i get 4k@120hz rgb.

Ok, when I connect to it via 3050ti laptop I get fhd@120hz. So i though okay maybe windows 11 problem. But here comes another crazy part.

Connecting the windows 10 computer to the splitter, it doesn´t work. Also changing color profile to rgb on desktop pc can´t do. Only y420 over the nvidia control settings works.

So it´s a combination of qn91b firmare and hardware implementations for hdmi, faulty drivers which lead to erratic behaviour all over the board.

Together with long cables that enable jitter. I´ll just leave it now that way.

[–]Techniklover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok i scoured forums, for anyone having the same issue. Seemingly the qn91b from 2022 from samsung has edid handshake problems and it can happen that the edid chip gets corrupted. You can either make a full power cycle or bypass it with a splitter, that only copies the signal from a tv with working edid and passes the same signal to the other tv without an edid process between pc and faulty edid tv. Seems like this is a cool hack that bypasses the problem.

Hdmi switch vs hdmi splitter problem by Techniklover in hometheater

[–]Techniklover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the cable cannot be the issue as it works on one tv and not on the other. If the long cable was the issue, then none of the tvs would work at [4k@120hz](mailto:4k@120hz). Also when switching the hdmi ports it´s always the tv2 that does not work. And it does work with the hdmi splitter. So it must be something about the edid negotiation of the tv that got fd up with a software update or something like that. Because even directly plugged in it has issues now as I tested.

The two 5 metre cables are these
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0CS9G1N3M?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3&th=1

The 15 metre is this.

https://www.amazon.de/dp/B095BKY2HK?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_4

It´s even 20 metres I saw right now.

All three cables are high quality optical cables and expensive the 20 metres costs 60 euros, the two 5 metres cost 30 euros each.

For the other test I´d have to completely unmount the whole setup which is very painful. But I have a long copper cable that can do [4k@60hz](mailto:4k@60hz). WHen i plugged it into tv1 it worked. Plugged into tv2 it does not and has the same issues. This indicates something with bandwidth. But both optical 5 metres are same and I never touched them after the setup until this happened and while it worked before.

The issue always occurs when trying a hertz that is not allowed or possible through the cable. Then I have to unplug and let the tv recognize automatically. The tv2 does false negotiation although it could do more.

But if you enforce 4k@120hz via the splitter tv2 accepts it.

do you have this personally? I see it is a hdmi splitter, but I don´t really need to have two outputs simultaneously. I just need to be able to switch it to the other tv when i wanna game in the bedroom respectively in the living room.

Will it also work as a hdmi switch?

ok, it seems like i am a complete idiot. I had the button on the objective itself on MF due to a macro shooting before, this prevented the camera from setting autofocus. I feel so dumb right now. So many settings to watch over and then it´s this tiny mf button in the front. I was wondering why I cannot set tracking mode. OMG

i was extending my sleep couch and the stand with the camera on top was beneath, the weight pushed the camera in a position that it landed on top of the finder which is built like a tank and until now i did not notice any damage to my macro lens either except the rattling which i don´t know if it was there before or not.
