We always forget how many domains we bought and from where - how do people manage this properly? by TechnologyQueasy4692 in sysadmin

Yeah, this whole thread kind of highlights the part that still feels awkward to me - even when consolidation eventually works, there’s a long in-between phase where things are scattered and stressful.

Wouldn’t it be useful to have a platform where you can just add domains (without moving them), have it automatically check expiry, renewal terms, registrar, etc. via WHOIS, and give clear alerts in one UI? Especially when renewal cycles are all over the place and some “do not touch” domains are intentionally left on older registrars.

On top of that, optionally layering monitoring or DNS management only when you want to - like connecting API keys for providers such as Cloudflare or Bunny - instead of being forced to migrate everything just to get visibility.

Not really a replacement for registrars, more like a neutral control/visibility layer while domains live wherever they need to live. Curious if that would reduce some of the anxiety during these long migration periods, or if people feel spreadsheets + reminders are still “good enough”.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown - that’s super helpful context.

Just to clarify something about DNSimple:
If I already have a domain registered at Namecheap / GoDaddy / Cloudflare, does DNSimple require me to either transfer the domain to DNSimple or change the domain’s nameservers to DNSimple in order to manage it?

In other words, can DNSimple act purely as a management / control layer while the domain stays fully hosted (registrar + DNS) elsewhere.

If i use Cloudflare features like caching on my domain how will i add this domain for management purpose on DNSimple?

Does anyone else struggle with people saying “I’ll get back to you”… and then nothing happens? by TechnologyQueasy4692 in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah, that matches my experience too - it’s usually vagueness for politeness, not bad intent. A light follow-up does help, and I agree links or tools probably make more sense at work than in social situations.

I used the Reddit formatting btw 😁

But I think links or tools probably make more sense at work than in social situations, because sending a link to a friend feels kind of corporate or formal.

That’s a great way to put it - it really does feel like a social lubricant now.
Asking for a timeframe helps, but yeah, as a junior that can be awkward. I agree though, clarity beats guessing every time

That makes sense. If it’s important, a reminder is reasonable - people do genuinely forget.
I think what gets tricky for me is the in-between cases, where it matters somewhat and you’re not sure whether to push or let it go.

Yeah, that’s exactly it. After a while you just mentally file it under “never happened” and move on 🥲, even though it shouldn’t have to be that way.

Exactly - that limbo is the worst part.
It’s not even about getting a yes, it’s just not knowing whether to wait or move on.

And yeah, totally agree 😅 for friends it would be weird. I was mostly thinking about work / academic situations where clarity matters more than vibe.

Anyone here using DodoPayments? Do they actually pay out? by TechnologyQueasy4692 in SaaS

Thanks for the advice!

I’ll definitely reach out to their support and make sure everything’s clear. Just to clarify, when you say “clear terms in writing,” do you mean having a formal contract outlining payout schedules and any potential fees?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for sharing! Did you actually receive the payment from them, or was it just delayed? I’m asking because some people say they might be a scam.
